  • A new vehicle's FIRST complete detail...

My first post; I bought a brand-new Toyota Tundra ('08) almost exactly one year ago. It's salsa red pearl in color, now has 12k miles, has been mostly garage-kept, and I've washed it several times in its first year. The finish still looks great. My question is, do I need any special Meguiar's product(s) for it's FIRST wax/polish, etc.? (I've already been using Meguiar's "Gold Class Auto Wash" for its baths). Thanks

Get yourself some clay & wax and have at it.

      Yeah, I really like:

      1. Wash - Gold Class is good.
      2. Clay - Smooth Surface Clay kit
      3. Cleaner/Wax or ColorX
      4. Wax - Nxt Tech Wax 2.0 is a great wax.

I would definitely clay the truck.

I did the first complete detail on my new truck last July.

          Hand wash
          Clay
M21 sealant - 2 thin coats with 12 hours between each.

Maintain between and after washes with Ultimate Quik Detailer

          Turned out really nice: http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35423

Clay it and if there are a lot of swirls or other below-surface defects, you may want to use SwirlX or ScratchX 2.0. Other than that, apply a good wax like Gold Class or NXT Tech Wax 2.0 and continue to wash the truck thoroughly and regularly.
