  • Is Quick Wheel Detailer wax friendly?

I ordered some Quick Wheel Detailer a couple days ago, but then decided to check out Big Lots, due to some others saying that they saw it there for CHEAP. I found it there for $3.50 a bottle so I grabbed 3 since I won't make it back in there too often.

I must say, it works really well on day old brake dust and has a familiar Meguiar's scent. It definitely has a bit of "cleaner" odor in there too, not like the QD or UQD. I did some test squirts on a painted metal tool box trying to compare. It doesn't seem to leave any residue like regular QD. It seems similar to ammonia free glass cleaner to me. I started using NXT 2.0 on my painted wheels so I hope it doesn't remove that. I've never been disappointed with a MEG product, so I hope this stuff lives up to that.

Re: Is Quick Wheel Detailer wax friendly?

Wheels provide a very harsh environment for any wax, under any circumstance to survive. You will notice Meguiar's doesn't sell a "wheel wax," and my *personal* guess as to why is that they realize any truly effective wheel cleaner will remove any type of wax.

Now, that said, Quik Wheel Cleaner is fairly mild - I use it ALL the time and have never felt that it left a "Stripped" feeling surface. It likely removes some, but possibly not all wax. If you wash your wheels with anything other than normal car wash soap and water, expect to need to re-apply wax fairly often.

    Hope this helps!
