getting a shine

While waiting for some engine work to be done I decided to respray the engine cover. Its now been over a month and now the engines being put back in decided to give the cover a pit of a polish.


The cover had a coat of platic primer, 2 coats of primer, 3 colour coats and 2 coats of clear lacquer. Its now gone a bit dull so what would you suggest to get the shine back?

I tried the megs step 2 & 3 polish and wax, but its not giving it that 'wet look' I'm after.

Should I give it a few coats of polish before waxing or try a different product?

I believe you may have to use something with a little abrasive for shining it up in that it is lacquer... and tends to be dullish until you buff it out to a shine. Not sure what you're using to buff, but may try ultimate compound for the shine. hope that's some help. PS... would just be careful in how much I buffed so as to not go thru clear coat.
