Difference between old APC/APC+ formulas and current ones?
What makes the Meg's body brush better than a California Duster?

    Thanks.
    1. No...Engine Kote dries to a hard shell finish. They are not even similar... It was a little tricky to use, but once you figured it out, it is my hands down favorite for wheel wells and engines... HD is a fantastic product but it does not last as long as the EK. Keep in mind, you asked which products do I miss, and not which older ones are better...

    2. M38 lasts and lasts and while Trim Detailer is very close, I just like the M38 better.

    3. Last Touch and Final Detail are similar however, Final Detail does tend to apply and remove a little easier especially in humid conditions. If you do a search, you will see people trying to snap up whatever Final Detail they can get... But LT does have a bit more gloss....

    4. The old APC+ is very similar to the new APC+. They both dilute to huge ratios and each has their own unique scent. Which one you prefer is personal preference.

    5. The Butyl formula APC is very different than the current APC. The Butyl formula is my opinion is far stronger but at the same time, not as safe either. You will probably not find it anyway as it has been discontinued well over 8 years at least...

    6. The Body Duster is very similar to the CD, however, I prefer the build and quality of the Meg's brush.

    I hope that helps!

Guess I havent been doing this long enough... All I miss are the brushes, and I still have several of those in my stock.

The Engine Kote does sound promising.

        1. I wasn't too familiar with Engine Kote and from the little bit of reading I had done it seemed as though they served pretty similar purposes. The shell sounds extremely interesting; though, it seems unusual that it would dry like that even though it is a water based product. Do you think there is any usable product left collecting dust somewhere? (like MPPP and Safe D-Greaser)

        2. Something like an All Season Dressing gel? I think I may have to buy a bottle, though I'm hesitant to buy any more dressings until Lab Sample "P" is available, which do you like better?

Thanks for putting up with all my questions, Tim.

If anyone has any EK left, they will be tight lipped about it.

As for M38, more like a Trim Detailer gel.

No worries, I do not mind helping people eager to learn!

            Good question.

I have a 1/2 full (or 1/2 empty) container in the basement. Smell is somewhat fruity, not sure what fruit though...Not sure if it is still good. Color of liquid looks to be yellowish. Sprayed some on an old hand towel and wiped the bottle down, dried it and the bottle is now clean and smooth. Oh ****, I forgot to clay bar!

It's yours for the asking or we could discuss a trade for that dust catching tin of M16 you mentioned above.

It's the solvent content that made it special. The solvent gave it more cleaning power and was less affected by humidity.

I'm going to miss the brushes. I still have mine and use them when my trucks are really grubby for a first "quick" wash to be followed by a chenille mitt wash. Replacing them with boars hair brushes is going to be mighty pricey.

I don't really miss any of the cleaning and protecting products because their replacements seem to be better than the old stuff. IMO, good ol' #16 was a real PIB to apply and remove and for me MPPP was a real dust magnet.
