    1.cleaning the car
    2. polishing rotary with W-4000 and 85 diamond cut
    3. polishing rotary with W -7207 and 83 Dual action cleaner polish
    4. polishing rotary with W-8207 and Speed Glaze polish
    5. waxing with High tech yellow up down left right with Pc
This are my steps but at some cars at some point i see holograms after a few washes. Please tell me what i do wrong if my pads are good or solution.I wash pads after each step and rpm its at 1500-2000.

    Re: holograms

    Welcome to MOL!!!

We almost missed this post but your email came through and we've responded via that channel already. This post deserves a response and discussion here as well, so below is the email response you received earlier:

It sounds like you may be running the rotary at too high a speed for your finishing step. You might want to try using the M80 Speed Glaze on a W9207 Finishing Pad with the tool running at only 900 to 1000 rpm. You must also keep the pad very flat against the paint and move it very slowly over the paint to avoid holograms. Polishing out to a completely hologram finish when using just a rotary takes a lot of practice and skill, but it can be done.

I've never used a rotary, but I keep reading about damage that they have contributed to. I've had great luck fixing some pretty bad stuff with my Ultimate Detailing Machine DA (Porter Cable), so I'm not really sure why someone would choose a rotary over a DA machine. Too scary for me.

Generally speaking a rotary can remove more severe defects than a D/A can, and do it in less time. In skilled hands, and with the correct pad and liquid, a rotary will produce the best possible shine and the highest clarity of finish. Generally speaking.

But in unskilled hands it can also do some serious damage very quickly. We had a student at a Saturday clinic who had inflicted a ton of holograms on his car while attempting to self learn the rotary. When asked how long he had worked with the rotary he replied "15 hours on that car". We used his car as our demo and cleaned things up beautifully with a G110, Ultimate Compound and a W8207 pad. We then asked the student who removed the holograms with the G110 how much experience he had with that tool; "3 minutes." Yes, the learning curve is much different with these two tools!!

The G110 Dual Action Polisher is Meguiar's answer to the Porter Cable 7424, a very common tool among enthusiast and pro detailers alike for safe and easy removal of a wide variety of defects.

For a very detailed article on proper use of this tool, check out this thread.

              Re: holograms

A good habit to learn is performing an IPA (isoprophyl - aka. rubbing alcohol) wipedown after your polishing step. This removes all the oils from the polish and will allow you to see the holograms in the paint, be sure to take it car into the sun for best viewing.

If after the IPA wipe you don't see anything you are good to go.
