I don't know anything about the buffer you bought so can't really give you an opinion. I do know that most good dual action buffers cost between $125.00 and $250.00 or so.

You definitely need some instant detailer when you clay. The instant detailer is the lubricant. Most clay kits come with instant detailer.

You should definitely wash the car as your first step.

Usually buying a buffer in that price range. it is generally a tool to help apply and remove wax. That is if you bought the bonnets to remove the wax. They generally do not have enough power to do paint correction. If it were me, I return it. Save up for a d/a.

It is possible to do your car by hand with the Ultimate Compound. It will be very labor intensive but doable. Try a test spot first.

I regularly take car of 08 Fusion. The first time I touched it, it was covered in rail dust. It took a couple of hours to completely remove the rail dust. I would definitely clay after washing.

Then try a test spot with the u/c and see were you are. Then go from there.

yep, that is a very basic orbital buffer. It's only useful task is for applying and removing wax. It has nowhere near the power and speed required to do paint correction.

As mentioned earlier, look into the Porter Cable, Meguiar's, Griot's, or Flex Dual Action Buffers.

Here are some to look at but NOT the rotary units.

Car Buffers, Polishers & Pads - Buffers are not just for the professional detailer anymore! Car detailing continues to evolve and become more involved all the time. The constant bombardment of new items and products can be mind-boggling. We try to ...

Cool, Thanks! I appreciate you taking the time. I'll take this one back. Looks like the Porter Cable is 124.99, I've had good luck with other Porter Cable tools in the past so I think I'll go for that one. Thanks again! I'll post and let you know how it goes. I'll still try and get some pics up too so maybe I can get some even better details.
