  • Polishing Diamond Plate?

See all the diamond plate in the background? I have to buff out the entire shop and there is tons of it. it isnt extremly bad but its in poor shape. Its sort of my winter project.

What products and process would you use? I already have a plan in mind but am interested to hear what you guys have to say.

dont get distracted by the vechiles, please look at the diamond plate, I wish I would have just taken pictures of the diamond plate itself, I keep forgetting though.

Get a closer pic of the metal so I can see what exactly you are up against. I would go with wool on a rotary with anything from all metal polish to M105 to Noxon. Let's see those pics!

I have had a lot of success using M105 or M95 to polish up some nasty diamond plate.

To speed things up, I would purchase a cheap rotary (HF or whatever). From the pictures you posted, the diamond plate does not look too bad. Wool pads work very well for cutting through the nasty stuff. Afterwards, M205 and a polishing pad will produce a fantastic shine.

The removal of the used polish can be a pain. I find that the Detailer Glass Cleaner does a great job removing the residue.

Good Lord, Nick!! You've got your work cut out for you. Polishing diamond plate is not fun. I hope you're charging a gazillion dollars for this! Make sure you take the approapriate precautions for polish sling. The black mess is going to be flying. Good luck. It'll look stunning when your done.
