    Re: Please Help

If you're going to have a detailer do some buffing? I'd have plenty of clear myself as well. Keep us posted on how it turns out.

I CAN'T PUT ENOUGH ON THERE TO GET IT TO SHINE LIKE IT SHOULD WITH OUT GETTING RUNS IN IT, IT'S ONLY ABOUT AS 1/2 AS SHINY AS IT SHOULD BE?

Extra clear coats are to allow enough thickness to sand all the peel out of the finish prior to buffing. Google "color sanding" for more info. I think there is an article from both Hot Rod and Car Craft magazines.

Ditto what Seth adds regarding the extra clear - so there is enough to wet-sand and buff : ) HOPEFULLY not to fix anything by the detailer, just have enough clear on it to be corrected by buffing by the detailer... assuming that's the intent.

Thanks for all the help and great info,I think I will switch to the UC that you mentioned if it is a little les harsher than the M105 Well I'm almost ready for my last coat off clear and start the compounding and buffing process or should I say hand buffing.
            Have a great day guys

The spray cans I used said wait at least five days before doing any sanding or buffing for the paint to completely cure.

I didn't read anything like that on the cans of Dupli-Color that I used. Well, I.m now in the process of wet sand with 2000 and give it the final coat of clear with the spray gun I've finally dug out of my storage shed. and then I'll hand buff it with UC that Jumbo reccomended and it I'm not satisfied with that then I'll call the detailer to come over or buy a buffer and learn to do it myself.
                Have great day

I think you will want to machine buff that much wet sanded surface. I'll have to check out the Dupli-Color paint. The stuff I use is a urethane based paint.

                      Seth,
I think it's fully cured, The can says after 48 hrs apply a mild buffing compound so I guess it's fully cured in 48 hours.

Oh, ya. Work and some more work. What grit are you using - sounds like you're doing a lot of sanding... sanding due to imperfections?
