  • Light scratches on windows? Help

Well I just got me a new 08 Cragar special edition Mustang and im loving it!!

But on the drivers side windows I have some fairly light but many scratches on it. They aren't all over but they go from side to side and looks like the hazing from maybe a bad window cleaning and it looks like streaking.

Is there something Meguiar's makes that could help or something I could do to get rid the hazing and make it look like new again?

I have this too on my Vue and it really annoys me when the sun hits it so I would be interested to see what anyone suggest. Mine appear to be caused by the previous owner neglecting to change or clean the wiper blades as needed.

Is it scrathes in the paint, or just streaking?

Washing the car, clay, and a glass cleaner like Nxt would get rid of most problems.

Sometimes a strong paint cleaner is needed for severe stains.

But actual scrathes wont be able to be removed.

I have had good success using #4 heavy cut cleaner using a terry cloth applicator to reduce the scratches. Lately I have tried #105 and have had great results also.

Now this is not scratches on the paint this is scratches on the actual window glass its self. Its just many fine scratches like the previous owner went through a car wash with grit on the pads or something. It looks like hazing or steaking from a bad window cleaning but it is just really fine scratching.

Could a clay bar help with this or what could I do to treat the glass. I really down want to replace it

Lake Country has a kit that is designed to remove scratches from the auto glasses. IT costs 36 bones, but it is much easier than buying cerium oxides powder (the kind of stuff your optometrist uses) and mixing it yourself. It also comes with the correct Rotary backing plate with a DA adapter.

Or you could buy just the Lake Country glass polish and use your existing backing plate and cutting pads:

Clay bar definitely will not have any effect of scratches in glass. You will need a dedicated product like invisible posted, BUT, be aware that polishing glass is NOT easy. It can be tricky and open a serious can of worms.

Do your research and decide if this is something for you to tackle, or if you should hire a pro.

I must of had a brain cramp. If one of the moderators can delete my other post in this thread. For some reason I was thinking water spots. I am sorry if my advice confused anyone out there. My bad. Once again sorry.
