  • Darn it, how do I clean this mess?

    Hi all !
Well it had to happen someday. Parking my car, I went too close to a concrete wall, and while turning scratched the edge of the rear of my car.
Could someone please let me know how I can deal with this mess? (products to use, technique etc?)
I guess I'll have to start repaint with a touchup pen, then with wetsanding a little? Then UC?
What about the plastic bumper and light?

Sounds like you have a decent plan, the plastic lense can be sanded and buffed. Looks like you'll be filling the scratches on the paint with a touchup paint and wetsanding flat and buffing it out... the flat black peice along the bottom could be a problem, might try a heat gun to smooth it out a little bit and just apply a dressing to it....

Sounds like you've got it handled...

Just a heads up, I edited the title of your thread.

      Thanks for understanding.

A body shop would sand the area smooth, shoot some primer, color and clear and the buff it out to bring up the shine. In theory you can do the same, but unless you have the skill and experience to do so, your end result may be less than desirable. You're dealing with some pretty deep gouges there, unfortunately.

I'm afraid so... I guess I can give it a try though, it's really at the "corner" of the car, so that'll diminih the risk of spreading the sandpaper retouching too much. Else I'll check with my car repainter who's sipposed to clear a bumb I have on the trunk anyway and see how much he would charge for it.
No problem with the thread title renaming btw ;-)
