Hi, I'm new to Meguiar's products and to this great forum so forgive me if what I'm about to ask has been asked a million times before.
I live in the United Arab Emirates and the Meguiar's agent here doesn't stock all the products. I am planning to detail my 2007 Carrara White Porsche Cayman S this weekend and was hoping to get your advice in getting the best results. Since I got the car, I have been using Zaino products but have decided to try Meguiar's this time.
I have managed to buy the following Meguiar's products:
1. NXT Car Wash
2. Deep Crystal pain cleaner (Step 1)
3. Deep Crystal Carnuba Wax (Step 3). I couldn't find Step 2 polish!
4. Scratch X 2.0. I couldn't get Swirl X!
5. NXT Tech Wax 2.0
6. NXT Spray Wax. I tried this last weekend and liked the results and the ease of application and removal.
7. NXT Speed Detailer.
I have some Zaino clay bars. I also have a Makita Orbital Polisher with a large selection of pads.
The car finish is in very good condition and has very few swirl marks and no visible contamination. Being white, it is not easy to spot defects which is a good thing. It is also difficult to get white to really "pop".
This is my plan and I would really appreciate you opinions and advice to make the most out of my elbow grease.
1. Wash with NXT Car wash and dry. I use an air blower to blow away any water residue in door handles, mirrors, etc.
2. Clay the entire car.
3. Mask off plastic trim with masking tape.
3. Use Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner with the Orbital Polisher and grey pad. I plan to do one panel at time.
4. Apply one coat NXT Tech Wax with Orbital Polisher and blue or red pad. Not sure if I can layer wax immediately or if I have to give it time.
5. Hopefully look and admire the results
.
My questions:
1. My understanding is that the Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner will strip all old polish and expose the clear coat. It has no polishing action. Correct?
2. Not having Swirl X, I have to rely on the paint cleaner and Tech Wax 2.0 to remove the very minor swirl marks I have. What do you think?
3. My understanding is that NXT Tech Wax 2.0 is polymer based and acts as a polish and wax as well so I do not need the Deep Crystal System Polish (Step 2) which I don't have or The Deep Crystal Carnuba Wax (Step 3) which I have. Does Tech Wax 2.0 do the job of both Deep Crystal Steps 2 and 3?
4. I assume that the paint cleaner and the Tech Wax 2.0 are both suitable for Orbital Polisher application. Correct?
5. Is there any value on layering the Tech Wax 2.0? and how long do I have to wait before applying a second coat?
So sorry about the long post. I shall look forward to your valuable advice. Great forum BTW. Many thanks.
