  • What pad to use?

    Hi there.
I'm finally ordering my DA, so I'm getting to understand what pads to use for each use and how to use them...
    SwirlX-UC : Polishing pad
M7 - Polishing or finishing pad?
    Wax : Finishing pad

As for how to use them : They all need to be cleaned while using and after use.
I've seen some videos where I saw the guy passing some sort of a brush on the spinning pad every now and then, from the center to the edge to get the residues off. What is it they're using? Isn't it ruining the pad? How does one clean the pad while using them and how often does one has to do it?
Then AFTER use, how do you clean them? Can they go the the laundry washer? Or should one let them sit in a bucket with soap?

    Thanx for your infos !

    Re: What pad to use?

There is a lot of information on how to clean pads including a few threads dedicated to washing them.

The brush you are seeing used is just for this type of use. Personally I've not read a post here from anyone that uses one nor do I have any first hand experience with them. I've seen that most people use a terry cloth to remove product "on the fly". You can either wipe the pad off every so often or place the pad against the cloth and turn it on under low speed. You should remove product in this fashion while its being used when you notice a build up on the pad (it starts to clog the pores).

As far as cleaning them after use, some people put them in the washing machine and some clean them by hand. Most use detergent that does not contain any additives such as softeners, bleaches or perfumes. I like to use Tide Free. I soak the pad in water, pour some Tide on the face and then work it by hand. Rinse and repeat as needed. There are also special cleaners you can buy and mix with water to clean pads.

      Thanx for your answer !
Sp I guess i'm OK with the pads? M7 with polishing or finishing pad?
Maybe the brush used on the spinning DA's just a plain toothbrush. I should check it out and see how it works...

        Re: What pad to use?

philming you seem on point w/ your pad selection. as far as M07, use a finishing pad on speed setting 2-3. you are only spreading the product just like a wax only you do not want to let it dry.

for cleaning during your detail, refer to Cleaning Your Pad On The Fly

what pads are you looking to buy? if you want something to clean thats safe for the laundry, try the meg's sb2.0 pads. those are the only pads i know that are laundry safe. hope this helps!
