#80, or SwirlX followed by a pure polish (Deep Crystal Polish, #7) would give best results I think.

Or ColorX if you just want to do something quick.

And yeah, no rags. Look for some smooth foam applicators, and some decent microfiber towels.

If I were you I would pick up a bottle of ColorX:

In this case you may want to apply it with a piece of terry cloth and not a foam applicator pad. Also be sure to use an ample amout of product as you will be removing a lot of dead paint assuming it is single stage.

Heres a good thread showing ColorX in action:

As Mike stated, M80 Speed Glaze works very well with SS paint and can be applied with your orbital buffer:

I used a G110 Dual Action polisher and M80 as my finishing step on these two vechiles with red SS paint:

Red single stage paint is so fun

    Hope this helps.

There is a very high probability that this car has single stage paint - go over a small area with something like Cleaner Wax or ScratchX using a white cotton or microfiber applicator. If the pad starts to turn red you know you've got single stage paint.

If that's the case then you can do wonders for the color and gloss. M80 Speed Glaze is single stage red's best friend and it can be used by hand, orbital or D/A buffer to great effect.

As Calais has asked, what tools do you have to work with on this?

He was talking about getting it re-sprayed, but I think that it would look great with a bit of elbow grease!

    Bringing back faded paint

My neighbor has a red 82 Celica that has faded to a matte finish.
I would love to bring it back to a shine for him!
