hi, i just paid a lot for a cruise control servo for my car. it is used (1989) and expensive lol what can i put on it to protect and preserve it all responses appreciated. bill

You can protect the servo's physical plastic and rubber shell... but that is not going to prolong the life of the unit. The damage on the servo is caused by not only wear and tear, but also by the contaminations in your engine's vacuum system.
You can protect the rubber all you want, but that is not going to do anything to it. To protect the rubber boot, just spray it with silicone lube. This lube tends to leave little residue for sand and dirt particles to accumulate on. Even with the dirt entering into the cable, that would not decrease the life of the servo significantly, if at all.
