  • How to apply #66

I have some Megs #66. I was wondering what you guys have found to be the best way to apply......PC, rotary, by hand?

How long do you work it?

It looks and smells just like ColorX.

I tried some on a detail job I did a week ago, a white Ford Escape. I applied it with my PC. It made the surface smooth, but did not seem to do much for swirls.....so I was not real impressed with it.

I ended up using #80 with the rotary and then followed up with NXT....which looked awesome.

I remember reading that #66 can be applied using any method. Either by hand, PC or rotary.

You should try #66 on the rotary, I'm still not comfortable with a rotary for customer cars, but the results are oustanding

        Hi Bob,

#66 Quick Detailer can be used by hand, dual action polisher, orbital buffer and rotary buffer, so it's quite versatile.

How long do you work it?
This kind of depends on the condition of the finish and your application method, typically finishes in worse condition will take more product and need to be worked longer.

ColorX is technology borrowed from #66, but it's not as aggressive.

Results are going to vary depending on application process and material and hardness of paint. Some people like to use a more aggressive product first to remove the defects and then follow-up with the #66 for a two-step system.

Give the #66 a try with a rotary sometime.

By rotary I've found this product can remove light to moderate swirls easily while adding wax protection. And it's only a 4 on the aggressiveness scale!

              Hey,

I have had the best success with #66 using the rotary and a W-8006 Polishing Pad. It is an excellent product that continues to impress me more and more! Often I will use #66 and top with #20 Polymer Sealant.
