  • claying while washing vehicle

Guys I usually clay while the car is still wet after washing it. I use some QD as well to make sure its lubricated. However, is it better to wipe it off with a WW to dry the car too or just rinse it again since the car is still wet anyways. Any thoughts?

I know a some detailers will clay the car after washing and before drying, but they rinse the car off really well after washing to insure that not loosened dirt gets picked up by their clay bar.

I don't see a problem with claying after washing and rinsing first, yet while the car is still wet. Than after claying, give the car a final rinse and then dry as usual.

Question guys, won't the car dry up before you finish claying the whole car? Thus, creating water spots?

This is how we do it, we first rise, wash, rinse and then we clay using car wash soap/water and then we rinse one more time and then dry.

Works very well and very efficiently.

That's why you keep the hose close by so you can keep the rest of the car wet while you're working on each area.

In the summer I like to do it in the rain (call me krazy) with about 5:1 Gold Class car wash soap in my mit. It goes really fast this way. Don't laugh it works real well! I wash the car in the rain all the time. So my neighbors think i'm nuts, they're right!

Sounds like a perfectly reasonable method too me (except I would go a little easier with the soap).

Can you really damage your car using clay? I haven't clayed yet my car but I will be practicing on my brothers

Any tips? I plan to do it after washing the car and while the car is still wet clay away. I will also QD the wet panel first. how much QD do I need to put.

                  Quick Question

My moms car (99 chevy Malibu silver) is in desperate need of a detailing would it be ok to clay the car after washed and rinsed. Still being wet taking a pray bottle with a high concentration of gold class was and spraying that on as a lubricant. then rinsing or should i wash the entire car again? Thanks. Greg.
