How is the best way to remove tar from exterior painted surfaces. I've tried scratch x and it does work but its a slow process. Let me know what you think.

    Thanks,

I've always used Stoner's Tarminator to remove tar from painted surfaces. Works like a charm! Just keep in mind that you will have to re-wax that area afterwards.

Meguiars Gold Class Bug and Tar Remover ot Meguiars Body Solvent are good choices:

When using either of these products you want to spray it on the affected area and let it sit for 5-10 minutes, or longer if needed.

        Re: Tar

        I've got quite a few around. I like the meguiar's GC B & T remover.

If left on tar for 5-10 minutes, the tar comes off easily.

I use the aerosol types on wheels, rather than bodywork. They are a bit quicker, but i don't like leaving them on paintwork for too long.

Those products are great. If you don't have those around, spray a little WD-40 on a towel and the tar will come off very easily.

Those are some great ideas. I have not seen any of this products locally but I do have plenty of WD-40 sitting around. I'll try that first and see how it goes. By the way on the other products did you have to order those online or is there someone who carries them local to you?

            Thanks for the tips!

Tarminator can usually be found at most auto parts stores. Body Solvent has to be ordered online. You might be able to find Gold Class Bug and Tar Remover somewhere, perhaps Target (?), but it's not as common of an item, at least not for me.
