  • Washing The Car In The Rain?

Didn't see anything on this, and it's prob a silly question.

I'm set to detail a customer's car this Wed, but the weather forecast is calling for a few showers.

Anything wrong with washing the car in the rain, and then moving it into her garage to detail?

well, the rain will help rinsing it off...........
makes drying it a bit harder unless you pull it in first
What am I, fly-paper for morons?

Yeah, I'd have to move pretty quick to dry it while still raining.

      Thanks.

I had once thought about doing this here in Jakarta, Indonesia... until I remembered the tropical acid rain down here..

I personally wouldn't wash my car in the rain.

Have you ever seen what a car looks like after a rain?
How what a car looks like after it sat in the rain and dried? You see all those chemical contaminants, dirt etc that came from the rain...caked on the car.

That's at least what happens where I'm from, in California. And I'm not from a busy city either .

Funny, I just did this yesterday. I think it's actually better. The sun is not out to bake the soap or the water on the vehicle. I just washed my truck, pulled it into the garage and dried it off. Looked perfect. Tap water has all kinds of chemicals in it. Rain water might have some dust but dust is also going to stick to any water on the vehicle anyway. It's not a problem. With the rain, airborne dust is kept to a minimum so this is also not an issue.

I don"t think there is anything wrong washing the car in the rain as long as you pull it inside a garage for drying. The rain water will actually help in rinsing off the soap.

The problem is you better plan not to drive the car right after. It's a shame to get it dirty again so soon.

                    Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo-doo
                    Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo-doo
                    Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo-doo ...

                    I'm washing in the rain
                    Just washing in the rain
                    What a glorious feeling
                    My car is getting clean

                    I'm laughing at dirt
                    No need for ONR
                    The sun's in my heart

The break dust falls from the wheels
                    The tree sap just disappears
No water spots are in sight
                    I'll be waxing tonight.

                    I don't need a hose
                    The paint simply glows
                    Just washing,
                    Washing in the rain.

Maybe I should take a picture of my car and show you guys what the paint looks like after a fresh rain. It looks like a lakebed filled with sewage and topped with mold. That'll change your minds!

It was unexpected. I was in the middle of claying a friends car, which badly needed it. A third of the clay bar was disintegrated after doing only half. Started to rain....no problem

Just depends where you are from I guess.... washing in the rain works great here, esp in the spring.

I really do not see a problem. It should work out fine.

I remember a neighbor of ours. Whenever it rained out he would pull his car out of the garage to let the rain wash it. Then after the rain was over he would let it air dry for about 20 minutes outside, then pull it back in the garage. Then he would finish drying the car.
