  • Rainy Season

yup its the rainy season here in the Philippines. just to give you a scenario, it rains for about a week or so and then out of no where come the sun... as in clear blue skies and a very hot sun!
what maintenance plan would you recommend for a daily driver in this type of conditions?
    TIA!

    Re: Rainy Season

I would wax my car once a month, wash my car weekly.

If it rains that much there is really no point to wash the car more often than once a week.

      just a follow up...
what about the tar/asphalt that sticks to the car? do i have to remove it everytime i wash the car or only once a month prior to waxing?
      thanks!

        Re: Rainy Season

remove those as soon as possible!!!

the longer you let the tar sit on your car, the harder it is to get off.

Even worse, it might start damaging your paint!

When I get tree sap ( not much tar where I live) on my car I usually start cleaning it as soon as I get home.

Once you remove the tar, remember you have to re apply wax to that area.

              Re: Rainy Season

I experience the same thing with the rainy season here in Indonesia.
I wash my car at least 2-3 times a week, other wise I can see water spots on the surface of the car (acid rain is tough)...

after you remove the tar with a Bug'n'tar remover, you could just spray UQW on it after..
I do this, but also wax my car at least once every month..

FYI, the consumer line Cleaner Wax works good for removing tar spots. Tarminator works great as well, although you have to reapply wax after using it.

                    Re: Rainy Season

i previously used kerosene or lamp fuel/oil to take out tar on the car, but this time since i do have a small bottle of cleaner wax that came from the clay bar kit, i'll give that a try.
haven't seen Meguiars Body Solvent at local stores here, but i'll be on a look out for that product.
i also heard from a friend that wd40 also removes tar, is this true/recommended?
                    thanks team!
