How long should it take to do one side of a car with a DA and UC?

    Re: How long....

the time will vary depending on your technique. what are you trying to accomplish w/ the DA and UC? what type of car? a long car (Limo ) will obviously take longer to do vs. a shorter car (i.e. Honda Fit, Mini Cooper, etc). those are some things to consider when considering time.

Its a chevy Monte Carlo.. Mostly to clean up the swirls

I have kinda dinged around all morning and havent really worked steady on it.. I was just wondering to gauge my self so I know how long it should take and how long I am taking. I could work on it the whole weekend and stil not be completely done..

It just really needs to have a rotary taken to it with some experience.. but I am doing the best i can with the DA

depending on the severity of corrections needed, your pad choice, and you technique the time will vary but as a VERY ROUGH answer I'll say the time should average approx 2 hours a side. This can vary considerably but i'd say a fair estimate.
as a comparison I tend to be able to do one side of an average sized car with my Flex 3401 (A bit more powerful than the standard PC7424) with both M105 and M205 in about 1.5 hours - or in about an hour or just under if i'm only doing a AIO product like D151. Again though the time can vary greatly for longer or shorter depending on how hard the paint/clearcoat is, severity of defects, aggressiveness of pads used, etc

unless you have some VERY SERIOUS defects you should be able to correct them with a DA. YOUR experience and technique may be limiting factors if you aren't used to doing paint corrections with a DA but with proper techniques a DA can remove all but the very most severe defects. Going to a rotary shouldn't be necessary, especially since you only mentioned some swirling
What am I, fly-paper for morons?

I also have some deep scratches.. I need to learn some good proper techniques.. does that movie give good stuff like that? I work one area for a long time it seems like and it doesnt seem to look any different.. I never get anything on the rag when I clean on the fly.

I got one side left and then its off to polishing and waxing..

how long do I work the polish and now its ready to move on to next section.
