  • what's the difference between synthetic sealant and hi-tech yellow wax?

my distributor said, in lieu of synthetic sealant (they run out of it), hi-tech yellow wax is the next best thing. what's the difference? can it be applied to clear plastics like headlights?

Hi Tech Yellow (#26) is a good wax, but kinda different from Synthetic Sealant (#21), esp the #21 2.0.

The closest thing to #21 2.0 would be Nxt Tech Wax 2.0. Those are very similar, being entirely synthetic, and both have the new polymer technology in them.

#26 is a carnuba/synthetic blend, wont have quite the same protection for most people.

Any of those would be fine on headlights, other clear plastics.

M26 is a premium carnauba & polymer blend wax that has gathered a huge following in the many, many years it's been in existence. It is extremely easy to apply, does not dry white so it doesn't stain trim, and it is very easy to wipe off. Some people like to describe the appearance of waxes in much the same way wine aficionados describe fine wine. M26 has a reputation for imparting a deep, wet gloss, especially on dark colors, and especially on a very well prepared surface.

M21 is a fully synthetic wax, or sealant. There is no carnauba wax in it but the polymers are highly specialized - the hydrophobic polymers in it are pretty unique and cause it to shed water like crazy. Being fully synthetic it will outlast a traditional carnauba wax. For those wax aficionados many synthetics are described as giving very crisp, bright reflections but are sometimes lacking in the wetness or depth.

Keep in mind that these visual descriptions are VERY subjective - one persons trash is another's treasure after all. Is M26 "the next best thing to M21"? Maybe, but they are very different products designed to do essentially the same thing.
