From my personal experience, here is my 2 cents. SLOW DOWN and make your working space reasonable. I was very eager to open my G110 up, run around my truck and be please with results. But you need to work small areas and take your time. You will get much better results IMO.

yes with the G110 move slow and use a 2x2 foot working area. dont use too much product or too little

first time I used the G110 I think I put down too much product

oh and keep the pad clean too. or just switch pads if you have a few

        Re: First Detail - TONIGHT!

ok guys well....my parents were gone in here vehicle, so i decided to do my dads nissan truck. It took me a while to get going as i had to fins his keys and watch my niece until my parents came home (approx 7pm) It was already starting to get dark so i quick did wheels, tires, wells and washed it. Pulled it inside to clay it and now its back out as my truck is inside for the night.

I plan to rewash tomorrow morning if it needs it and start taping off then compounding and polishing/waxing.

so what do you guys think....should i rewash the whole truck or just throw some LT on it and call it good enough to buff?

            When in doubt, just wash.

              Re: First Detail - TONIGHT!

ok....so i started buffing the truck out....and im doing speed 5.5ish with a yellow polishing pad and UC, im making a total of 8 passes on the panel, 4 up and down and 4 side to side, then lifting pressure and doing a couple more passes. When i check i still see some parts of swirl marks, maybe like 1 or 2 lines, as well as baked on tree sap that must not have come off with the claying?

Anyway, after al those passes with UC, and finishing with 205 it came out decent minus the sap spots. Ive only done the hood as i had to go out f town, will finish it tomorrow hopefully.

What am i doing wrong though with my technique, shouldn't the UC take out all the swirl marks?

                Re: First Detail - TONIGHT!

I think pop's Datsun Pickup has swirls that are too deep to be removed with UC. Instead of moving to 205 so soon, you should have went with the M105 and see if it removes the swirl. Also, on older cars or cars with deeper swirls, the Lake Country cutting foam pads are the pads of choice among professionals. Just keep that in mind. Did your kit come with the Meguiar's cutting pads? Although Meguiar's and online communities recommend people to avoid using the Meg's cutting pads, pop's Datsun would probably respond quite well to the Meguiar's cutting pad.

You may want to try M105 on an Orange Lake Country Pad. Then move to M205 on a finishing pad.

Also, at least with the PC, I find a big difference in rotation speed when going from speed 5 to speed 6, even from 5.5 to 6.

so maybe i should try the death speed #6?
