Only M83 is formulated to be used with a DA
Both M84 and M85 are meant to be used with a rotary buffer

the reason i ask is because a buddy of mines just got an 07 BMW and wants to give it a first detail. its his first time. do you think PC and M83 with burgundy cutting pad will take out swirls marks? I've have an acura and never work with hard clear like BMW.

Your description doesn't identify how bad the swirls are, but I think I'd start with M80 or similar first. Better to start with light cleaners working towards the heavier cutting cleaners than vice-versa. The Meguiar's motto so to speak.

We don't recommend using the cutting pad with the G110 or other D/A due to the aggressive nature of the pad itself, and the action of the D/A. There is a very high probability of the paint being hazed with this combination.

Several BMWs we've had come through Meguiar's Garage have responded beautifully to M83 on a yellow polishing pad with the machine running at speed 5 and only moderate pressure applied. You'll definitely want to give that combination a shot first, and if you find you need more cutting power, pick up a bottle of Ultimate Compound at your nearest auto parts store or even Wal-Mart. Ultimate Compound makes use of the SMAT abrasives found in M105, just toned down a bit but also with a very long buffing cycle on the D/A. The extra cut compared to M83 along with the SMAT abrasives will yield great clarity to the finish, and remove the vast majority of swirls in one properly done pass. At around $10 a bottle it's a bargain! You can still follow it with M205 if you like - and M205 worked slowly with a finishing pad will really make the finish pop prior to applying your wax.

Ultimate Compound has roughly half the cut of M105, depending on application method, but that is not to say it doesn't still have a considerable amount of cut. It is the most aggressive consumer product Meguiar's sells!

They do share SMAT technology though, which in a nutshell means they use a very small, very precise and effective abrasive that doesn't need a traditional cycle to be broken down in order to finish properly.

Which begs the question..... well, in my mind at least, does SwirlX end up anywhere near M205 as the consumer version?!?!?

                  Regards

No. SwirlX would be more closely related to D151 than to M205.
