  • Making my first order at ADS! Help me pick-out what I need!

I am down to my last tub of wax, no tire shine, and all of my MFs are worn and don't pick-up water good.

So, I'm giving everyone the task or helping me make a great order. I am not a professional detailer, but do enjoy detailing, and I want to get a new DA, because my old cheapo one burnt up.

    On to the list.

So far here is the list:
1 Gallon of APC (Or should I get APC+?)
32oz. ASD (Or should I get Hyperdressing?)
All Season Dressing Bottle and Sprayer
    Water Magnet Towel
    12oz. Leather Cleaner and Conditioner
    NXT 2.0 Wax
    2 Pack Tire Dressing Applicator
    Double Duty Detail Brush
Buff n Shine Boars Hair Interior Detail Brush
Buff n Shine Microfiber Window Towels
Meguiar's Supreme Shine MF Towel Pack (3 Pack)

    Current Total: $80.50+$13.99 Shipping.

    Anything else I should add?

Thanks in advance for the suggestions. Let me know if there is anything on that list that isn't worth buying.

I would suggest you get a G110 from ADS, they have extremely good kit deals available.

I would also recommend getting more Supreme Shine MF's and and Ultimate Wipes. Both ASD and Hyperdressing are great choices, you will not be disappointed. Maybe you would like some M26 to top the NXT or some M80/M07 for a pure polish.

Your list looks fine but you don't plan on doing any paint correction?

Be sure to buy $125+ of Meguiar's products--that qualifies you for a free duffle bag.

Re: Making my first order at ADS! Help me pick-out what I need!

My guess is that you will get more use from the HyperDressing, which can be used in so many different ways and diluted to the shine that you like, than you will from the All Season Dressing. You can use the HyperDressing to shine up tires, wheel wells, engine bays, as well as both exterior and interior vinyl and plastic. Being water-based, it will not last as long as a solvent-based dressing like ASD, but it seems to be more versatile.

And Calais is right. You will need a lot more microfiber towels. My guess is that you will find yourself wishing you had gotten 20+ towels. Also, get at least one more water magnet.

And buy a bunch of foam applicators. They come in a package of four. Get at least three packages.

Are you going to do any paint correction or paint cleaning? If so, you will need some pollishes: get yourself a bottle of SwirlX and Ultimate Compound. What about a claybar? What about quick detailing spray?

I know that the order is now becoming very expensive, but it's best to get as much as you can in your first order. The larger the order, the more money you save on the shipping. I learned this the hard way ...

Re: Making my first order at ADS! Help me pick-out what I need!

What are you working on? What is your budget for the purchase? While Rick's shipping is a bit steep on smaller orders, I think it caps at $16.95 regardless of how many gallons that you purchase.

Couple things: ASD is a nice product, but comes ready to use. HyperDressing is a concentrate which you can dillute to meet your needs. Extra spray bottles are always nice, but might not be needed for ASD since there is no reason to dilute it. You'd just need a sprayer (if that isn't included, can't remember).

I'd also look at some clay and cleaner waxes, as Al mentioned above. One product that gets a lot of praise on MOL is M66, which is an All-In-One cleaner wax. Also, the standard A12 cleaner wax and ColorX are very good products. Without a proper surface, you won't get the full benefits of NXT.

APC vs. APC+: I like the APC+ better because it has a degreaser in the mix, which comes in handy when working inside engines and around the house. Having said that, I have a gallon of both on my shelves at home. Both are good, but I lean towards APC+ for a single purchase.
NOTE: Post count does not reflect actual detailing knowledge.

Re: Making my first order at ADS! Help me pick-out what I need!

The APC+ seems to have a better smell(to me anyways), and leaves interior carpeting feeling soft. I'd also get at least two bottles for the APC+ so you can have different dilution strengths on hand. Can't leave out the foaming sprayer to make easy work of rims, tires and wells.

Hyperdressing gets my vote to for dressing. But like the others have said it doesn't have the longevity that ASD has. They're both good, but i prefer HD because it's dilutable, water based so it can easily be removed and it smells good to boot.

If not more Supreme Shine towels then at least a 12pk of ADS mf towels for everything on your ride that isn't painted. I like to use my nice SS towels for my paint while everything else gets the other towels. How about glass cleaner? The D-Line glass cleaner is great and lasts quite a while as it's dilutable. Now would be your chance to try some Last Touch spray detailer too. It's only 18 bucks for a gallon

It can add up quick. But when you make single, large orders you still end up saving moola in the long run.

All the selections are good ones but there is one nobody has mentioned yet. If your planning to purchase a new DA, what about the pads for it? You will usually use several just for paint correction because they get filled with product after a while and are not as efficient, even when cleaning it on the fly. The 2.0 pads are also larger 7" instead of 6.5" for the older ones and now the red pads can be used with the DA for more correction power. A six pack of pads is around $60 and you can mix and match quantities of all 3 types depending on what you plan to do most often. I would also agree with more than one water magnet since they still can fill with water and be less effective at drying the car after a while. Oh, and you can never have enough Supreme Shine MF towels so I would consider getting more than one pack of 3 if you can afford it. They are not very expensive so I would look at 2 or maybe 3 packs if all your current ones are worn out.

Thanks for the suggestions. I do not plan on buying a DA right now, because I only have about $100 to spend, but I'll spend the extra $25 for the duffle . I will eventually get my G110, but just not this time around. I may order a bottle of scratchx because it worked wonders with the waterspots, but I only had a small amount left, and used it on the trunk and half the roof.

Got it, More MFs, More applicators (I have 4 unopened ones). But I guess more never hurts. I do have 3 new bars of meguiar's clay I bought a few weeks ago. And I have about half a bottle of Quick Detail, Ill order some more of that too, I completely forgot about it.

I was leaning towards APC+, and I will buy a cleaner wax, you suggested A12 or M66? Which is better? I already have the clay ready to go to . I was first going with hyperdressing, then saw some of the results for ASD, then was leaning towards it.

So, 2 bottles for APC+, a foaming sprayer,Hyperdressing over ASD, and more MFs.. You guys all have the same opinions...

When I order from ADS, I usually try to order things that are cheaper or not easily found locally. I would pass on the NXT 2.0(Cheapest place is Wal-Mart) and Tire applicators as they can be found at almost any auto parts store or target. You possibly could replace these items with more towels or purchase another product that is hard to find locally. Just my 2 cents...

                      On to the list.

So far here is the list:
1 Gallon of APC (Or should I get APC+?)
32oz. ASD (Or should I get Hyperdressing?)
All Season Dressing Bottle and Sprayer
                      Water Magnet Towel
                      12oz. Leather Cleaner and Conditioner
                      NXT 2.0 Wax
                      2 Pack Tire Dressing Applicator
                      Double Duty Detail Brush
Buff n Shine Boars Hair Interior Detail Brush
Buff n Shine Microfiber Window Towels
Meguiar's Supreme Shine MF Towel Pack (3 Pack)

                      Current Total: $80.50+$13.99 Shipping.

                      Anything else I should add?

Thanks in advance for the suggestions. Let me know if there is anything on that list that isn't worth buying.
                      Yo, yo, yo...

Take advantage of ADS' flat rate shipping on orders over $100.
On top of getting the Supreme Shine MF Towel, get a bulk of ADS generic MF towel. Those towels appear to be of excellent quality, and I use them a lot for my compounding.

Why not also buy some Meguiar's foam pads and a couple more Meguiar's washing mitts? Maybe even ten or so Ultimate Wipes for wax removal and final wipe down??

You should also buy a gallon of APC+ instead of APC. APC+ is a little stronger than APC, and you can always dilute it a little more for delicate surfaces.

On my first order I was a little hasty and I missed a few items. I had to order those items the SECOND time, only to miss a few other items that I wanted to buy.

Don't be hasty. Order more, save on shipping. I am not a big fan of interior detailing. I simply clean my interior with fresh water and leave it alone without any dressing. I don't even dress my tires (a racer's habbit). If I were you, I wouldn't buy any dressing products.

The only Meguiars products I use are for paint. I think you should get more paint care products than what you already have on your list.

LOL I had my cart open for 3 days as I thought about what I wanted, did research here on MOL, and kept adding products. After hitting $400 I figured that was enough (that did include a G110kit)
