  • SwirlX Question

I have an '03 jetta with minor swirls in the paint. I've used the following combination of products once, however there are still noticeable swirls in the direct sun.

    Gold class wash
    Clay
    SwirlX
    Tech Wax 2.0

My question is: if I continue to use SwirlX for say a couple years will it erode the clear coat down too far? Is SwirlX intended as a one time job to remove swirls before switching over to a pure polish?

    Thanks

    Re: SwirlX Question

SwirlX is safe to use on a regular basis, thoug hit shouldnt need used agressively with tons of passion on a regular basis.

Did you notice it remove some swirling? How did you apply the product?

      Re: SwirlX Question

The car looked good afterward, the swirls were much less noticeable. I'm hoping a few more applications will do the trick.

I believe I used a microfiber applicator and a terry cloth applicator. Is foam the best for applying SwirlX?

Also if and when SwirlX reduces the swirls to a reasonable level would it be best for the paint to switch over to a pure polish like ColorX?

      Thanks

        Re: SwirlX Question

Generally, a terry applicator will be more aggressive. So while it can remove worse defects, it risks leaving its own swirls behind. So if you bad stuff is gone, I would switch to a smooth foam applicator.

Also, be sure to only do one test spot or panel, then get out in the sun and get a good look at the car, or even at night under lights as well. Make sure your one area is good before doing the whole car.

SwirlX is fine for regular use in the future, you can just apply it more gently. Remember to remove swirls, it does need worked into/against the paint with some passion and energy.

ColorX is not a pure polish, ColorX is a cleaner/wax. However, ColorX makes for a nice quick detail, since you can just use that and top with a coat of Nxt 2.0 to cover everything.
