  • Wax Job Redo

I have a fairly new dark color car, Mocha Bronze Metallic. I washed, clayed, and waxed with NXT 2.0. I was not happy with the results; the color was blotched or streaky. I want to do it over with the following steps:
    Wash
    Polish with DC2
    Wax NXT 2.0

My questions, Do I need to remove the existing wax somehow first. And DC2 polish, which I love on dark cars, is getting more difficult to find with the newer product lines can ColorX be substituted for it and is it just as good.

I think DC2 will work well with that color. You would have to get rid of the existing wax,to apply the polish.

But I don't think that is going to resolve the streak problem that you have had. There are a multitude of reasons why this can happen. Applying too thickly, working in very humid conditions..?

The fact that you have just finished the car,you could hold off with the DC2 untill next full detail.

Have you tried going over with UQD and microfibre? That can get rid of streaking.

If you aren't sure how to remove the existing wax, you should just wait a few months until the wax comes off naturally.

I have not found NXT to work well on any dark colored car, so I save that for lighter colored cars..on dark I would have to suggest #21..or go outside meguiars and get something like Blackfire Sealant, Opti-Seal with Optimum wax topper, Duragloss 601-105 combo...

You're only as good as your last detail

I initially had streaking problems with NXT 2.0 on a black car. I found that thinner coats and longer drying times solved the problem. It is also sometimes necessary to remove most of the dried sealant, let it dry again and then remove what is left on the surface. It can require fairly vigorous wiping to remove it. I go to this trouble with it because I find it does a better job preventing water spotting and bugs sticking than other products I've used.
