Actually, it's shortly after 6 AM in Italy. Now you know he's nuts!
I'm a real light sleeper! Too much Coffee.
I did edit it Bob...I realized after posting that you were using the paste.
I like DC2,and in the states it is really cheap...It's not here, unfortunately.
As i've said before...when other members are on the forum, talking about the cost of a product in the states....I just multiply it 3 or 4 times. That's my currency convertor
No, that's not a fact. Sorry if it sounded like that
If Pennington said they were "phasing out" the entire Deep Crystal Line.
The only products they have to replace them is SwirlX and UC... That leaves an empty spot for The Pure Polish and Possibly a cheap Carnauba Wax. I'm thinking they will probably update step 2 with a different logo, bottle, etc. They should just get rid of Step 3 though...
Step3 is still a good product and good value for money as is step2.
Even for people not into detailling,step3 is perfect. It's tough lasting and gives nice results..A very different appearance from TW2 but has it's place.
I can understand DC1 being replaced by SwirlX,if that's the case....but I hope they continue with 2 & 3.

Im sure DC2 and DC3 will still be around for a while. It wouldnt make sense to give the label and bottle a new look look for 2009 and then discontinue them in 2010.

Bob,
you may be on a impossible quest. But I support your efforts. Being that your in Florida, like me. Due to the humid conditions here. #7 may not be your best option. I have found that #7 does not play nicely in our humid conditions. I would give #5 a try instead. Likes the humidity better.

I seen a pic somewhere with the new labels.
That's good Makes sense.
I'm now using TW2 in favour of DC3...but I still use DC2 a lot.
For future reference Rusty, do you agree with my plan of the DA and 205?
Sorry, I have not tried #205 yet, but if it's anything like D151 then you will be very pleased. The new SMAT abrasives, found in both products, tend to impart some of the best gloss I've ever seen to date.
In short, any light cleaner / polishes made by Meguiars is going to look great if applied with a DA...much better than you could achieve by hand alone.
Bob..I have to agree with what the guys are saying here.Polishing by machine does give better results.
In your case it's going to be minimal though as your car is already swirl free and well cared for,and no need for correction is required.
Hi Eddie,
So this Deep Crystal #2 seems to work? Is it something I can "work" into the paint and also something that will "burnish or refine the paint even further? I'm hoping it'll dry to a haze so I can apply a few vigorous applications with the hope it will add more sparkle. I guess what I'm trying to locate is a super, super fine polishing product. I guess I'm still going by the true meaning of the word polish, and can't quite get used to this different terminology. I do a lot of metal polishing and we use the word polish to denote a product that further levels the irregularities in a finish and hence adds more gloss and reflectivity. I still get the feeling that Meg polish is just a quickie cosmetic and very temporary fix...

M205 does amazing things to enhance gloss. Keep in mind that M205 works best at high speeds, like that found on a DA or rotary, to microscopically polish and even out the clear coat for that smoothness.
Also, before using M205, you may want to use a compound like M105 or Ultimate Compound to further sharpen out the clear coat to further smooth out the clear coat. SwirlX has very similar effects to M205, in that it is used to polish the paint. If M205 is inaccessible to you, SwirlX will work much to your satisfaction.
I believe Ultimate Compound and SwirlX is the Consumer Duo of the Mirror Glaze M105 and M205.
To knock it up a notch, you may want to consider using 2500 or 3000 grit sandpaper to wetsand the surface. That is how you achieve ultimate gloss. Keep in mind that 3000 grit sandpaper is not enough to even out orange peel, but it is great to sharpen the clear coat significantly for that show quality gloss and depth.

He is working by hand and you need a rotary to remove sanding marks. Let's not get him into sanding his clear coat when he is working by hand.

Attack life, it's going to kill you anyway. This is your life. Choose to live it to the fullest.
Wash the car, apply the #7 with a Hi-Tech applicator pad to about half a panel at a time and then wipe it off. Don't let it dry, just work it to a haze then wipe off.
After you go around the whole car, apply the NXT Tech Wax and see what that looks like.

Apparently Ryan, that seems to be the consensus. Either Deep Crystal #2, Show Car #7 or New Car #5. For the life of me I still cannot figure out how you can apply a non drying substrate and then apply NXT 2.0 directly over it without creating a gosh awful mess.
Others have suggested the Deep Crystal Polish. Here's my thought:
Given that micro polishing is my goal, would I then be better to opt for the Deep Crystal Cleaner as opposed to the Deep Crystal Polish? What I'm tryin' to figure out is: What is the finest abrasive available that I can apply by hand to burnish the finish to boost the sparkle before I apply NXT 2.0. i.e. Do I add "oils" or try to make the finish a tiny bit smoother and thus more reflective? Sorry to be so dense, but the term polish just seems inappropriate for something you just smear on. Old habits die hard.
