    Re: sticky paint

I would try claying the paint, and cleaning with SwirlX.

Two others Megs' products for you to consider applying: Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner and Cleaner Wax. Both are gentle but may be just the ticket for you.

        to MOL!

Yup, try claying. You've probably just got a lot of bonded contaminants on there.

If your paint feels sticky, claying would be my next step.

            Re: sticky paint

There are some fresh paints that are sticky from the factory. You really need to take extra care if you are going to remove swirls and other defects.

              Re: sticky paint

You are probably feeling rail dust that has settled into the paint from shipping. If it is rail dust you may need to use a acid wash followed by the clay bar to completly remove the rail dust.

                Re: sticky paint

If the paint feels rough or sticky that is a sign of bonded surface contaminants. You only mention it feeling sticky - do you feel any very fine surface irregularities as well? Do you feel this on the windshield/rear window as well? This could be a feeling almost like a super fine sandpaper, or random and intermittent little "bumps" on the surface - either would confirm bonded contaminants. Some trees will give off a sap mist that is so fine you can't readily see it, but it make the paint literally feel sticky or tacky. Washing and waxing alone won't remove these contaminants so you'll want to clay the car.

As you can see from the video posted by CieraSL, claying is a very simple process but it can return awesome dividends. It will return your paint to that smooth as glass feeling with very little effort. You will need to wax again after claying.
