  • washing your wash mit?

Anyone wash their wash mit with their other cleaning supplies (not with microfibers of course)?

I always shake mine around in the wash bucket, spray it with the hose and hang it to dry. Friend of mine mentioned he tossed his in the washer. Never thought about that.

I use a Meg's microfiber wash mit so I wash it with the other microfibers.

That's probably ok. I was thinking about the lamb skin mits. Toss it in with the terry towels or rinse and hang dry?

I have a lamb skin and I put it in the wash with my drying towels and the ones I use on the paint. I wash them all on cold, permanent press, and I hang the mitt up to dry and dry the others on low.

I only use the microfiber. Wash it all the time.

I have the MF mitts, though I wash it by hand.

The packaging on the lambswool mitt quite clearly describes what to do...

              Before:
Rinse with strong spray of water to remove hidden particles...

              After use:
Rinse well, squeeze out excess water and hang to dry.

It does not mention machine washing, and strictly says "DO NOT tumble dry". I don't think that you need to machine wash it, a simple rinse would do. Its not an applicator pad, and you will be using the same product (wash soap) next time you use it anyhow.

With that said, a machine wash sounds like it might be a bit much for the lambswool. Microfiber, yea probably easier to machine wash.

That weird. My natural lambswool packaging says TO machine wash on delicate.
I wash it after every use and feels brand new. My brother has one (same brand) and he only rinses his off and hangs it in his garage. His is in a very different condition, harder hairs.

I only have one lambs wool mit (I save it for special cars), and I always wash it in the washer with my terry towels on the regular cycle. I also run it through the dryer too, but the inside of the mit never drys, so I hang it up to air dry the rest of the way.

Never had any issues with the wool coming out just yet.

However, I do remember using a wool mit (long ago) that lost its fur, but it must have been cheaply made because it didn't last too long.

                      Re: washing your wash mit?

I've had no probs with washing the lambswool wash mit in the washing machine with the rest of the cleaning gear, then throwing it in the dryer (low heat). I do find that it takes longer to dry so then hang it to dry.

And ... err ... what is the problem with washing it with the MF towels?

                      Cheers

                        Re: washing your wash mit?

When I used to use SM Arnold Lambswool I noticed they would start to shed in large chunks and the leather would split and tear when machine washed and dried.

I then started using the Meguiar's microfiber wash mitts and haven't looked back. I feel that lambswool is particularly ineffective at rinseless washes, but did fairly well when new with a traditional wash.

They certainly were not worth the triple cost (of Meguiar's mitts) to me. Heck, at the same price I prefer a microfiber mitt....less drag, more plush when wet IMO.
