While on the subject, because it's a bulky shop vac, I need to store it in the garage. However, since I'll use it only every so often, it's probably going to get dirty itself. Do you guys have any particular way to keep yours clean so it doesn't blow dust and dirt around the garage when you use it?

Also, I noticed with these more powerful models, when I am vacuuming the mat and other surfaces, the suction really grabs it causing me to have to pull real hard to get it off, possibly banging into other areas of the vehicle. Is there any trick to this?

That's the same model i was talking about. I did happen to buy the muffler, as well as the adapters so i could use the smaller 1 1/4" crevice tool and dust brush. The 1 7/8" crevice tool can be too wide for some spots.

I suppose it's small enough you could put a black trash bag over it for storage. And i don't think i've had a problem pulling it off the carpet before. Try tilting it forward a bit before pulling it up. Breaking the suction just slightly make it much easier to pull off. Watch yer elbows!

Thanks, I'll look for the accessories. I think my Home Depot has them too. That model is awesome. It's designed perfectly. My problem with pretty much all past vacuums is that they tilt over too easily. This thing is almost un-tiltable.

Yeah, it's pretty strong for being so small. Only thing i don't like is that there is no wheel lock. So if you're on a hill it will try to roll. Other than that it's a great vacuum.

Sweeping compound works well too - basically it's damp sawdust. Sprinkle around the floor and then sweep as usual. It's downfall is that it is expensive if purchased commercially.

Since I have an epoxy floor, I try to hose out my garage and mop the floor at least once a month in the summer and as often as we're above freezing in the winter.

I use a Craftsman wet/dry vac along with their 5 piece car cleaning kit (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!) that comes with an extension hose, adapter to attach the hose to the vacuum, crevice tool, sweeper tool and brush attachment. With the hose extension I can get to the carpets, seats, dash, anywhere in both my Dad's 2003 Malibu and brother's 1994 Pathfinder without having to bring the vacuum inside the vehicle. Any dust in the vacuum exhaust gets blown into the air.
Anybody can make a car look good with the right products.

For my car I like the higher HP models but hate the larger vacuums. Both Craftsman (sears and kmart) and Cobalt (Lowe's) carry shop vacs in the 5 gal 5.5 hp range. I'm sure other manufacturers do as well. You don't need a 12 gallon shop vac to get decent HP.
