  • Faded OEM side skirts

I drive a 1999 eclipse gs, and the factory side skirts are faded. I didnt know if i could revive the paint and restore it to where it looks good. It gets really annoying to clean up your car all nice and have those faded side skirts sticking out at the bottom.

    Here are some pics

srry on the condition of my car, i live on a rock road and its hard to keep clean

    Re: Faded OEM side skirts

I embedded a few of the pictures for you since we have a general forum rule that says new members must reach 30 posts before they can post a clickable link.

    Thanks for your understanding.

Well, if they have actually faded to a different color, they might never match perfectly.

How do you wash/clay/clean/polish/wax your car at the moment?

The best you will do is detail both properly with a complete detail, and see what you will get.

Do you know if either the car/trim is single stage? Or both clear coated? Is the car supposed to be gray, and the trim is more white now?

          At any rate, I would:

          1. Wash - You can put some Bug and Tar Remover where needed. Then give a good wash with a good soap, Gold Class, Nxt, etc are good from Meguiars.

          2. Clay - Smooth Surface clay kit.

          3. Clean - SwirlX would be a good starting point. Work it in with a little passion all over the car. It is a cleaner/polish, so will cover both steps.

          4. Wax - Nxt 2.0 is good, two thin coats is best.

          5. Maintain - After future washes, use UQW to shine everything back up, and put back a little wax.
