Black car not waxed for four years

My son is not a car crazy person like his father. I will be seeing him next weekend. After I wash and clay his car should I use Colorx or Swirlx? He has swirls and scratches. I just want to take on the challenge. I would then top it off with NXT 2.0. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. I realize the result will have its limitations but I just want to make it look as good as possible.

If you want the best cleaning ability, then you want SwirlX.

Using ColorX would let you get the recomended 2 coats of wax more quickly, but wont fix as many swirls.

What are you trying to accomplish? Do you want to remove swirls, Scratches, etc. Or just protect the paint:

For Paint Correction
I recommend using SwirlX and Ultimate Compound.

Do a TEST SPOT with SwirlX and see if it removes the majority of the Swirls. If not, then bump up to Ultimate Compound. But remember to use the "Least Aggressive Method" to get the job done.

SwirlX then your wax. Two thin coats if possible.

How much time do you want to invest in the work? One day, two days, three days? I presume you are working by hand. Assume that whatever process you finally choose, it will take more time than you anticipate.

If you have one day, then I would wash, clay, apply a coat of ColorX with foam applicator according to the following directions:

Best thing to do is to wash the car really well so that their isn't any kind of dirt or abrasive particles on the paint, then apply the ColorX using either soft foam or soft microfiber applicator pads and only do a section about a foot squared. Work the ColorX like you would rub a skin lotion onto your skin. Use an ample amount of product, that is your surface should be wet with product as you're relying on the diminishing abrasives to remove very small particles of paint off the car in an effort to level the surface.

After applying and working the product to this small area allow it to complete dry and then wipe it off and inspect. If the results look good to your eyes then repeat this over the entire car working only small sections at a time.

Then apply a coat of NXT.

If you have two or more days to work on the car, then you might want to polish the car with SwirlX and Ultimate Compound. After you have washed and clayed the vehicle, do a TEST SPOT to determine which product will effect the level of correction that you desire. Hand polishing/compounding is hard and time-consuming work. My guess is that you will decide to use Ultimate Compound; but do the test spot first and make sure you can make a small section of the car look good before doing the rest of the car. After you have polished the car, apply one or two coats of NXT.

Thanks so much for all your help. I will probably only have one day to do this so I will go the route of swirlx and nxt 2.0. I'll let you know how it looks.
