  • 08 camry scratch

There is this scratch on my 2008 Camry where the bumper meets with the trunk. I'm not sure what Meguiars product to use, and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Here is a picture of the scratch.

The vehicle has been washed/waxed regularly in the spring/summer/fall months with Mr Clean Auto Dry and Meguiar's Cleaners Wax. This is the only imperfection I can see in the paint. All the other little items in the photo are just dirt, will come off in tommorows wash.

It looks like it is too deep to remove with a compound, but to be sure

Run your finger nail across the scratch, does your nail get caught in the scratch or not?

If it gets caught, it's too deep, but you could still probably lessen the appearance of it with a polish.

Before you wash again, read some HowTo threads on MOL. Such as how to properly wash a car. Insteads of using the Mr.Clean.

Meg's also has many more products besides Cleaner Wax which you could give a try.

Try SwirlX, ScratchX 2.0, Ultimate Compound, etc.

Yeah, i had a feeling it was too deep. I figured I would post it and see. I'll try what you said in the morning, but i'm pretty sure my nail would get caught in it. I thought about taping off a real small area around the scratch and trying the SwirlX. I've also considered just going to the dealer and buying some paint to touch it up with. I have no idea how it got there, but i suspect my wife. lol

I've read up a lot on the washing with two buckets method, but I've had such good luck with the Mr. Clean Auto Dry that it's hard to do away with. It's one of those hate or love products. Maybe it depends on how hard the water is in different areas in reference to how good it works. I am open to suggestions however, and when my remaining refills run out, I'm going to try some Gold Class shampoo.

Yeah, definitely give the 2 buckets, grit guards, microfiber mitt a try!!!

Yeah, if it's too deep, than touch up paint is an excellent option. Won't look exact but still better than it is now!
