BMW E46 Compact polishing time!! :-)

Hello guys I am very happy to talk with experts because I am wondering which product to choose for my BMW Compact. The color is silver metallic and I have it for 5 years in a parking not outside in street. I have seen detailed works and they fantastic! So I want to help me chhose wich product is closed to me an d my car. Polishing by hand and not machine because of money.

Hi zoikarios, and welcome to MOL!

We've merged two of your posts into this single thread under Detailing 101 so as not to duplicate efforts or confuse things.

As a primer to what you'll most likely be doing with your car, read through Meguiar's 5-Step Paint Care Cycle first.

Depending on product availability in Greece, you should select products like the Smooth Surface Clay Kit, SwirlX (or Ultimate Compound) and NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0. The article linked to above will give you a rundown on order of use, etc but you're sure to get some helpful input from fellow MOL members here shortly.

Thank's for aplying tomorow I will go to shop and buy one or two of these product's......but i think tha Tech wax is better for black color's???

We have a couple MOL members in particular that come to mind, both with silver cars (Acura TSX and Dodge Viper) and both use NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 on their cars. Both of them have a very bright, crisp shine with very clear reflections and they both look absolutely fantastic!

While it is certainly true that white and silver never show the same depth of color you can achieve with black, that doesn't mean they can't shine like a diamond. Do some good thorough prep work on your BMW - clay and paint cleaner - and then apply two very thin coats of NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 and you'll love the final result.

All these thinks with hand because I said that I don't buy machine because of money. Can you please suggest me washing product first..polishing second ...and waxing third???You know

I have a silver car as well and love what NXT 2.0 does for my paint.

A good product selection would look something like this:

1. Wash with Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner
2. Clay with the Smooth Surface Clay Kit
3. Clean with SwirlX or Ultimate Compound
4. Protect with NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0

Claying and paint cleaning are important to properly prepare the paint for the final wax step. Claying will remove the bonded surface contaminants, and if you're car has been parked outside a lot in the past 5 years it will certainly benefit from it. Besides, claying is a very simple process - don't skip it.

Paint cleaning will remove those fine swirls that, although not as visible against a silver car, will definitely detract from the overall appearance. It will also remove embedded dirt, thereby restoring the true color, as well as light etching from bird droppings or other defects below the surface.


And if you need any more proof that NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 is great on silver, Hemin8r just gave it to you! Jesse's vehicles always look fantastic - a combination of great products and a lot of talent.



(And, yes, it's a bit embarrassing to have omitted Jesse's SRT4 from that short list of shiny silver cars)

so you think that NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 is the best....my car is already wash and have it in garage.
If I use first ONLY NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 and after NXT Generation® Tech Wax® 2.0 Paste its enough ????
