  • Another G110 Order - Suggestions Welcome

    Hello everyone

Well I'm placing my 2nd order to ADS for the G110, plus a bunch of other stuff. Almost ready, but had a few questions before clicking that wonderful check out button.

    1) I read this thread: How to tape-off a car, but I was wondering how do you polish at the edges of body panels where it's taped? Most of the pictures I've seen around here don't have those areas taped (just plastics and uneven areas); do you just go over the seems and clean afterwards?
    2) I'm only ordering 7" pads (2x Polish 1x Finish w/ Kit, plus 3x Polish 3x Finish), I don't think 6.5" will make much of a difference for smaller areas (I don't see smaller pads available). So, would it be okay to not have the pad fully on a surface (a 3" strip at the edge of a trunk)?
    4) How far can I get with a 32oz. bottle? 1-pass (maybe 2 in some areas) on a 4-door car?
    3) Last but not least, any suggestions on anything else I should order? I already have APC+, plus a bunch of consumer line products (NXT 2 wash/wax, SwirlX, ScratchX 2, UC, clay kit).

    Here's what's in my cart:

    1) I read this thread: How to tape-off a car, but I was wondering how do you polish at the edges of body panels where it's taped? Most of the pictures I've seen around here don't have those areas taped (just plastics and uneven areas); do you just go over the seems and clean afterwards?

You only polish painted areas of any vehicle with your DA. Any small area that is too small for the DA, use the compound/polish by hand in that area. Any Cracks, emblems, etc Clean any residue with Swabs, or soft brush.

7" pads are the standard right now. Yes, its okay to not have the pad completely on the surface with a DA, but not a rotary for long periods of time. Just make sure you spread the product on the paint surface before takign a portion of the pad off the surface to get areas you described, otherwise you'll get product slinging everywhere!

    4) How far can I get with a 32oz. bottle? 1-pass (maybe 2 in some areas) on a 4-door car?

32oz will last you a long time! Especially with a 4 door car. Multiple passes and buffing sessions with it. You'd be surprised how little of product you need to get results. The less product, the better cut. Read through on how to prep, apply, and clean on the fly, here on the forum, before you use the DA.

    3) Last but not least, any suggestions on anything else I should order? I already have APC+, plus a bunch of consumer line products (NXT 2 wash/wax, SwirlX, ScratchX 2, UC, clay kit).

It looks like you are set, but I'd get more Supreme Shine and/or ADS microfibers for use with polish/wax removal, interior cleaning, wheels, etc.

      Thanks for the info

      Quick question:

Will these bonnets still fit over a 7" pad (finishing pad?)

      Edit:
Nevermind, I was looking under the wrong category (Microfiber Towels, instead of Car Polishers & Pads)
      Found these: http://www.autodetailingsolutions.ne...er-bonnet.html

      Doh!
