should 105, 205 replaces 83 and 7 in my 5step?

I haven't been on the forums in awhile but keep reading about how well 105 and 205 work. 105 seems to work great with scratches and my Black 2006 charger isn't getting any newer In the Spring and in the Fall I've been using the clay bar, 83, 7, and then nxt and 26. I love how it comes out and being a black car you see everything. I use a rotary buffer with 83 and use everything else with my porter cable/meguiar's orbital. Would using 105 and then 205 replace 83 and 7 in my 5 step process? I'm guessing 105 might be to aggressive, and 205 isn't listed under the pure polish section so would I still then use 7? Ah well lots of questions, lots of reading. Let me know what ya guys think. thanx

The M105 / M205 combo has become the new combo of choice. In the past, M83 and M80 were pretty much the standard polishing pair.

M105 is quite a bit stronger than M83. If you have had luck with M83 in the past, I would keep using it. But, instead of M07, I would try M205 and a finishing pad on your DA. The clarity of M205 is so great that a glaze is simply not needed.

Thanx chris it took me awhile but but after looking threw the forums what your saying is the general conclusion. I've got some scratches and I love using the rotary so I think I'm going to use 105 on a test spot. The price difference between 83 is big jump. 83 is a great product but I'm always looking for something a little better, thanx again.

I have an almost full bottle 80 left in my garage. I was wondering how 105 and 80 would work together. It doesn't make much sense to dump it and grab 205. Will it make a huge difference or do the 2 products just work differently? Also because I'm not going to use 205 is 7 needed like it was for 83/80?

If you're looking for a great alternative to M80/M83 and want to see the effects of SMAT abrasives but don't want/need to jump all the way up to M105 - Ultimate Compound. Everybody wants to talk about the $35/quart high end, high cut, hard to find pro stuff (and, admittedly, it is pretty darn fantastic!) but they overlook the $10/16oz pick-it-up-at-WalMart product that will give outstanding results when all you're looking to do is remove some swirls and other light defects with a G110.

Ultimate Compound is even more user friendly on a G110 than M105 and in most cases, you just need that big of a hammer. Especially if M80/M83 served you well in the past. And even UC is fully compatible with M07 or DC2 if you like taking that extra step to bring out the best shine you can.

M105 is great stuff. I used it just last weekend on the side of my truck and it got the water spots off with just a few passes using a DA.
One word of caution tho don’t try to use it for an area more than 2 sq ft. if it dries it is really a bugger to get off.

Thanks a lot guys. I made small repair to my car and I'm going to use 105 then some 80. When the 80 is empty I'll grab some 205. Is it true that you don't want to wax freshpaint because it causes bubbles? I read something about waiting 30/90 days to apply a sealer wax.

Bubbling of the paint would be rare, but you do not want to wax for 60-90 days following a respray because the needs to outgas and fully cure. You can apply a pure polish such as M07 or Deep Crystal Polish because neither will seal the paint.
