    Re: Humid wax drying

I very rarely apply a last step product without doing some sort of prep job with a cleaner first, but there have been a few times where I applied a wax with the G100 directly after a wash & dry. In those cases, the LSP product dried much faster.

So. I'm assuming that the cleaners themselves must saturate the paint with oils, and maybe that helps to hinder the LSP drying process?

But then again, like I mentioned in an earlier post, if I apply a LSP by hand it tends to dry quickly...whether or not the surface was prepped beforehand.

    Go figure.

There was a time, not too long ago, that when I detailed a car, the streaks & swirls would really show up when the sun hit them.

Never mind the fact that I kept using the same dirty bath towel to remove all of the products with, plus the towel got washed about every 6 months or so too.

IPA wipe down after swirlX and UC maybe? That or maybe the fact that I had the finishing pad primed with QD before the wax like I do with the other products? Should it be primed too? I just started doing this with the finishing pad....

Like I said, I'm still trying to learn . While I don't install swirls with washing (2bm and also a foam gun with NO pressure on mitt) and I am fairly good with taking swirls and stuff like that out. The finish always looks perfect before I leave I make sure of that.

Also the streaks have only been occuring on the hood, not the entire car.

I've had the same problem with NXT.

The streaks usually go away in about 24 hours though.

Normally for me it's gone about an hour or so after my final wipe

I think something might be here. We're both working in hot, humid conditions with the exception that you work in a garage. But if the door is open,I can't see this making too much difference. But I'm no scientist.

As far NXT 2.0 goes.I just apply it by hand. It's so quick and easy to work with,I don't think there's much benefit in using an orbital etc.Unless you prefer the way a machine lays out the product.

I too had streaks with NXT 2.0 many times...first on a 2009 Aqua Blue Colorado, then on my old red beater and while it`s true they will go away in 24 hours or so, yesterday when almost finished wiping off the dried wax on the panel I had worked on and taken extra time to make sure the coat was as thin and uniform as possible,I get it all wiped away and moved around to let the sun hit it a few different angles and what did I see?? thin little streaks about 3-4 cms wide in the same directions I was wiping, but they seem to have gone away now, AGAIN...I communicated with Michael Stoops about the problem and relayed my feelings on a bad batch of NXT 2.0 possibly being on shelves as there was a bad batch of original NXT that got recalled or w/e or maybe mine is just bad...UQD evened them out the first time 2 months ago and I even had the thought of "how can spraying this wax booster onto wax that hasnt cure NOT move the molecules/wax around and maybe even remove it from the paint and onto my cloth, I also discovered that I was not prepping my pad with an "X" nor was I making sure I had the thiennest and most even of coat until yesterday but still it streaked...the bottle is maybe 15-20% full and I am seriously considering taking it back for another bottle seeing as how it IS the wax I want to use...although I love the Cleaner/Wax and it smells sooooo friggin good I wanna drink/eat it

                    Re: Humid wax drying

Wow it seems the streaking issue is with both NXT 2.0 and M21 2.0.

I for the life of me, still cant get M21 2.0 without streaking.

The strange thing is I never had any streaks with the original M21 when I tried it.

Must be something to do with the "Hydrophobic" properties or something?

                      Re: Humid wax drying

I remember reading part of a thread by one of the mikes where it is pretty much stated that what we are seeing as streaks are actually leftover molecules that are slow to adhere/bond/haze/dry and therefor they are being smeared from one little spot into long streaky sickening lines/streaks/blotches/haloes/ I eveb feel that I have instilled swirls into surface in the beghinning trying to rub the streaks away =( So besides the obvious of applying coats as thin as possible and NOT using NXT 2.0 via machine but by HAND, and NOT applying m21 2.0 by hand but by MACHINE. and give plenty of time to dry. And before I forget..one thing I was forgetting to do b/c I thought applying the wax would do it, but that it priming the pad with an X or just basically dampening the pad so the wax you are applying to the pad will not be sucked in but rather held onto the surface of the pad and easier to be evenly spread onto the panel/panels ect.

                      hope this helps!!!!

I found in the past with other waxes/sealants,that passing over any streaks with QD or UQD gets rid of them.

I`ve had UQD get rid of them a few times, had it make them worse a few times, had it just move the streaks around once, water worked once when uqd, and mqd would not budge em, and on the other hand, they have disappeared on their own b4 also...strange phenomenon

Actually on a black VW Golf I detailed, I applied M21 2.0 via red finishing pad and PC.

                            Still streaked.

Although, I saw the car the next day and the streaks were gone.

I mean, if they disappear after it cures the next day then that's not a problem. A problem is that if it looks streaky when the customer comes to see it, it's not a good thing lol
