So the other day while cleaning my F150, I had just got done wiping down the dash with Megs Natural Shine Protectant in the red bottle (I love this stuff).

Anyways, so there I am going about my cleaning routine and the phone rang. I toss the terry towel I was using over the side mirror (black plastic on the back for the f150). Pick up the phone and talk to the girlfriend for a few minutes. Hang up and go to retrieve my terry towel to continue with the passenger side.

As I'm walking up to the mirror, I trip over the hose and regain some balance just as my hand hits the towel. I guess I kinda pushed the towel against the back of the mirror as I regained balance. When I remove the rag, I notice that the black plastic of the mirror had been transformed.

It's now what appears to be beautiful silky looking black plastic and has never ever looked this good. I mean it looks liquid. I stand there for a few minutes admiring it. This is the greatest thing ever I think to myself.

Then, it happened. Without another thought I go nuts rubbing natural shine protectant on every piece of black trim on the outside of my truck. Bed rails, mirrors, top of back bumper, door handle buckets, weatherstripping around all the windows, bed cover, step bar tread, I mean everywhere. WOW that looks good. Real good.

About two days later I have to go to work early around 5 am. The truck is covered with dew. When I left work (it had rained earlier in the day) I'm walking up to the back of the truck. "WHAT IS THAT?" I scream to myself as I see streaks down my dark blue tailgate. Then it hits me. Then I see the same thing down my doors, and down my bumper. I'm a moron. Wanna know what happened when that stuff got wet? Yep, big mess!

Turns out, it's an interior product for a reason!

Anyone else get carried away and make a similiar mistake or am I the only one?

Natural Shine is not water resistant like exterior trim detailers...Therefore it ran off onto your truck in the rain.

Try Gold Class Trim Detailer from meguiars. It has longer high gloss, better protection, and longer lasting...Its exterior only, and would do wonders for your truck

Huh? The product itself says it can be used on trim. But yeah, gold class all the way!

Yeah, I know this, but just had a loss of concentration. Got caught up in the "WOW that looks awesome" aspect of it and never thought about it until the after math.

I've used the Natural Shine a lot for exterior trim and had great success with it and no running when it rains.

Did you wipe off the excess?..or did you apply way too much to achieve a very glossy appearance?

I use to have the same problem when I used Armorall on my truck. Then I starting using Meguiars and the problem was solved. lol

Same here. I usually just put a light coat, and wipe off any excess.

I think that could possibly explain what's happened.Natural Shine is not as glossy as some of the other products. That's why I like it.I find the plastic absorbs it pretty well.Try the GC exterior trim detailer.I unfortunatley can't get it here, yet. But maybe that'll give you the desired look without using too much product.

You've really got to wipe the trim down that you apply it to, otherwise what you experienced will happen. Same with Mother's Back to Black. The good news is that the stuff washes off paint easily.
If a tree falls in the forest and there's nobody there to record the event, how can you be certain that there was a tree or even a forest to begin with?

I like the new Supreme Shine on exterior vinyl. Here's how it worked on my golf cart. Non greasy and doesn't run. UV protection too!
