  • Detailing my first car

    Hey guys,

Here are some pictures of the '94 Honda Accord that I'm going to have in a few weeks. My goal is to make the car look as close to new as possible.

    Here are the biggest problems:

    - The seats and carpet are very dirty, and there are a few stains on the carpet as well as some ground in dirt on the armrests and seats.

    - The cloth over the speakers is grubby looking.

    - There is a little spot on the armrest where it looks and feels like the padding underneath is missing (is there anyway to fix this? You can see it in the picture)

    - The radio is broken (that has nothing to do with the detailing, but it's gonna be replaced)

    - The trim on the outside is a little rough, but the paint looks really good.

I just took a few pictures of the things that need to be fixed. Let me know how you guys would go about fixing them, and making the car look great again.

    Hey Jake,

The link was broken and I think it has to do with the fact that you are typing your post in word. It adds a significant amount of code that can really screw up the posts.

In addition to that, we have a general forum rule that calls for members to reach 30 posts before posting click-able links so I broke the hyperlink.

    Thanks

    Mark

Okay, sorry. Is it alright if I repost this without the link to the pictures?

No worries, I fixed it. You can just leave it the way it is

As for cleaning the interior, just about anything can be cleaned with Meguiar's All-Purpose Cleaner or APC+.

It comes as a concentrate and lasts quite a while since you can dilute anywhere from 4:1 to 10:1.

Thanks. The All-Purpose Cleaner seems pretty useful. I'm assuming that since it's a concentrate, it can take out tough stains as well, right? Do you think the dirt in the speaker cloth will come out with the APC and a rag or toothbrush?

It's very hard to say without giving it a shot, but it is certainly worth a try.

APC+ is really an amazing product that will make just about any nasty interior come out great. It's great for gunk, dirt, grime, and some oil stains too.
