  • heat insulation foam on my paint

Well, the temperature down here in mexico has been hitting about 108 degrees daily so my neighbor decided to spray his roof with some sort of polyurethane foam insulator.

He didn't care to let me know what he was doing and it seems that the foam he sprayed fell down and aided by the wind and reached and sticked to most of my cars side panels, roof and trunk and windows.

I realized about this yesterday and tried taking it off.

I tried QD and microfiber cloth - no luck
scratch X (no luck) - no luck
swirl remover (by hand) - no luck
clay bar - i spent about 1 hour to finish an area of 5 x 5 inch and it mostly cleaned it .

The clay bar method is taking just too long, i would have to spend about 2 days to complete the whole car and i guess that i will also need at least 4 clay bars due to the amount of contaminant.

I haven't tired the porter cable because i am afraid that it will instill plenty of swirls when it removes the micro foam pieces and rub them all on the paint.

On a side note, i tried scratching a the window with my nails, and the little pieces of foam came off with no problems, i cleaned my whole rear window with my nails (i have no nails left) in about 15 minutes, however i can not apply this method to the rest of the car due to the fact that i have no nails left now and even that i had, i will instill nasty swirls.

What do you suggest me to do? Should i just buy plenty of clay bars and have patience to do the whole car?

Would there be any other, less painful, method?

    Thanks

foam dissolves by alcohol. Try alcohol to rub down the surface. If that fails, drink some tequila and try again.

Plastic razor blades sound more promising for the glass. You could try a 3M scrubber pad on the glass as well.

For the paint I think you might be best served by using an aggressive clay followed by a polish. Something along the 105/205 route should do it after the clay.

I'd suggest that he is responsible for this damage. Have you asked him to have your car professionally detailed?

What kind of claybar should I use? I have only use the regular one that is sold at walmart as a kit with quick detailer

I would tend to agree with the alcohol idea. Something like 50:50 might be a good start, like for a regular wipedown.

But yeah, the regular clay bar should work for remnants.

Here is another vote for the 50/50 alcohol wipedown. Then clay to get anything left over. Good luck. I would get your neighbor to pay for your time doing this.
