  • Some doubts about M205 and pads

    Hello People !!
    I'm thinking about buying a DA - G110 or G220 -, and i still have some doubts...i will use it on a black pajero sport 2000 ( http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34682 - photos page 2 )...
Do you think that is better apply M205 by rotary or by DA ?
Apply M07 after M205 wiil be god or it isn't important ?

    Look at what i think.
M105 with Softbuff 2.0 Cut pad and Polish pad in parts with less swirls... - By Rotary
M205 with SoftBuff 2.0 Polish Pad - By DA
M07 with SoftBuff 2.0 Finish Pad - By DA
Tech Wax NXT 2.0 with SoftBuff 2.0 Finish Pad - By DA

    Is it correct ?
I need to buy 4" pads, and im looking at this pads

    and this

I wiil buy this small pads because there are some areas that isn't good apply with a 7" pad... but here we have many options...i need to know what is similar of W7207,W8207 and W9207... of course i need 3 diferent pads...i was thinking about
Softbuff 2.0 Cutting Pad - Orange 4" Pad
Softbuff 2.0 Polishing Pad - Black 4" Pad
Softbuff 2.0 Finishing Pad - Gold 4" Pad
All this pad is of Lake Country

So now i need your help again =P...M205 is better with polishing or finishing pad ? is M07 necessary ?

    Thank you peopleeee !!

Re: Some doubts about M205 and pads

It depends what you are trying to do when deciding which pad is a better fit. M205 is very versatile in that when coupled with an ordinary polishing pad it can provide modest correction.

Match it with a no-cut finishing pad and it will lightly refine the surface for the ultimate gloss.

As for M07, it is personal preference and will vary by vehicle. For many, M205 is enough, but for the ultra picky, or those going to a show...nothing but M07 will suffice.

Re: Some doubts about M205 and pads

Ok, for starters if you do not know how to use a rotary, you should get a G110. The rotary is for advanced users.

For pads, it's your call on 7 inch or 4 inch. Smaller pads will spin faster, but work smaller areas. Some prefer the small pads, and some use the larger pads.

The soft buff 2.0 pads ONLY come in 7 inches, all of the smaller 4 inch pads you showed are NOT Meguiar's pads. They are Lake Country pads.

Using M07 after M205 is not needed, but it might help it look better. I can't say for sure without trying it on your car.

Re: Some doubts about M205 and pads

There is no exact Lake Country for the Softbuff, but here are the closest:
Meguiar's maroon colored cutting are close to Lake Country orange.
Meguiar's yellow polishing pads are similar to Lake Country white, but white has less cut.
Meguiar's black finishing pads are similar to blue or gold Lake Country.

For M205 *IF* you want to remove small scratches or swirls use Meguiar's yellow polishing or Lake Country white. *IF* you just want to make the paint more glossy for final polishing then use Meguiar's black or Lake Country blue/gold.

You can skip the M07 before the wax if you like the way it looks. It is OPTIONAL. I can't tell you for sure if you need it or not. You need to see what looks good to your eyes and decide for yourself.

That's a solid start, and you should see very good results from that combination.

Remember that there's no right or wrong combination of pads and solutions. You should experiment the different combinations on test spots and share your findings. With around 5 choices of cutting/polishing pads from LC, 6 Meguiar's polishing/cutting [mainstream] solutions, 4 usable speed settings from your machine, you literally have over a hundred different combinations and settings to choose from.

With other brands of products thrown into the mix, the possibility is only lmited by your wallet.

The pads you posted were Lake Country pads.

I am not sure about your question, but yes, you can use M07 and wax after M205.

                  Your plan sounds good.

Re: Some doubts about M205 and pads

CCS pads ARE Lake Country pads. They are a TYPE of Lake Country pads. It is like saying that a Mustang is a Ford. The CCS is just a specific type of Lake Country pad.

"the only product that i can apply after M205 is the M07 or wax ? aren't there other product ?" You have asked this a few times now and I still am not quite sure what you are asking- sorry! Can you reword it?

The simple answer is you can put M07 after M205 and then put wax. OR, you can do M205 and then wax. You do not NEED anything else.

The only Meguiar's pads you need are the yellow polishing and the black finishing pads.

Re: Some doubts about M205 and pads

                          No worries!

It is really not a big deal, but the flat pads are better/safer for use with older polishes that use diminishing abrasives. Both will work.

It works very well with both. I tried half of my car with rotary and half with a DA and both sides came out great. If you know how to use a rotary it might be a little bit faster, but if you do not, the DA should be fine.
