I have a white 1998 Subaru Outback Wagon. I detailed it last fall. This spring I have noticed that the tailgate looks like it is yellowing. The tailgate was repainted in 2001 or 2002 because of an accident. Could the clearcoat be yellowing? What is the best process to go about fixing this? I can post photos tomorrow.

Re: Yellowing Paint
Does the car ever get run through automatic car washes? Oftentimes repeated runs through automatic car washes will yellow paint over time. Any pics, perchance?Shane

Re: Yellowing Paint
Sounds odd, normally if a clear is failing, it will just peel, but it could be a cheap clear that was used in the repaint. Get some pics up and we can help ya out.
I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.
I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
Remove swirls my friends.

Re: Yellowing Paint
on my white corolla the bumpers seemed liked they were a brownish white instead of super white like the rest of the car. I hit the back bumper up with the DC#1 paint cleaner and ultimate compound. Now it is white like the rest of the body panels.
I guess they were just dirtyPicture is in my gallery, 50:50 shot
