  • DC Paint Cleaner

I have never actually used the Deep Crystal Line but I was thinking about picking up some DC paint cleaner. It says its non-abrasive and I was wondering if there would be any reason to use this if I had already clayed my truck and didn't want to go ahead and use an abrasive product?

    Thanks, Andrew

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.

If you wanted a very mild product, it would be fine. It is going to get the dirt out of the pores, just without any swirl removal, etc. So it is better than claying and going straight to a pure polsih or wax.

Just to note, it does have some diminishing abrasives in it, just not very much.

        Re: DC Paint Cleaner

In my opinion, the Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner is a very mild product, tailored mostly for ordinary consumers. Unlike many of the more aggressive products, DC Paint Cleaner is so mild that it could be applied on a no-so-clean surface with an ordinary terry cloth and not create any noticible scratches.

With this safe feature comes a sacrifice. The product is incapable of thoroughly cleaning the surface for optimal clarity. The paint will be smooth, but you will never achieve the same result as you would with the other more abrasive cleaners. If you are going to spend any effort on working on the paint, I would suggest you go with something more serious. With the same amount of human effort, you could get much better results just from using a more powerful cleaner.

Here are some results obtained from using the DC Paint cleaner and a Porter Cable:

I've used it a lot Andrew. Also after claying, although some might say it's not necessary.I think it's a good product.Yes,it can remove light oxidization and ultrafine scratches as does DC2 with a bit of effort.

          If you've got it,use it.

Grab a couple of bottles of DC1 now! It is quickly disappearing from store shelves.

I have DC Step 1 and love it.

Being a pro, I have to have it...

I have to have something milder than SwirlX.

On very soft paints, SwirlX will cause marring, then I need DC1 to finish the job.

Also, on all of my cars, They are swirl free so I don't need something very aggressive, just enough to get light oxidation, scratches, etc out.

                  Must buy IMHO.

There are other things milder than SwirlX. M80,M09,and M82 are all less aggressive than SwirlX and would most likely finish out fine.

                      When working by hand...

None of those are really made for by hand.
I'm sure they can be used by hand though.

That is what I was thinking of buying it for, just my own personal use on my truck. M66 works great if the paint is too soft and other things leave marring behind.

Also you said cars? You have another car now?
