  • What to Have ON the Shelf

Hope this is the right place to ask. I'll try and keep this short. I only work on a couple of cars which are fairly new. I've been asked by a couple of guys I work with to do there cars and a couple have some issues. The paint isn't real bad, minor swirls and a few light scratches.
I work with a DA and by hand. For now, I don't want to many products sitting around. So my question is, either from the consumer brands or the professional line, What two cleaners would you use, what two polishes. I currently wax with NXT, but have no sealants. All suggestions are appreciated

I would say that if you can find smaller quantities of D151 Paint Reconditioning Creme from the Detailer line you should be good. NXT is a sealant.

SwirlX and Ultimate Compound can be found locally. They both work very well with a D.A.

The Mirror Glaze line polishes such as M205, M80 etc are good to have on hand as well for light to moderate defect removal.

Being somewhat out of touch with the new products, I can only comment on the old standbys I have used and still often use.
M80 Aggressive enough to clean up most surfaces, but not so aggressive as to be at all difficult to use.
NXT 2.0 Easy on, easy off, looks great, readily available, inexpensive.

NXT is a sealant, not a wax.

Edit: Just read what AeroCleanse wrote. I see I echoed what he said.

Could be, but Meguiar's still calls it a wax.

Anyway, call it what you want, it still looks great.

My two polishes from the Mirror Glaze line would be M105 and M205...any job your polisher can handle can be tackled by these two polishes. If you want something over-the-counter, Ultimate Compound and SwirlX are rough consumer equivalents and can be found anywhere relatively cheaply.

For a cleaner I would use D151 (which can be had in small sample sizes like 12oz from ADS) which gives machine correction in the M205 range while adding a layer of protective wax for a true one step.

With any of these products you are staying within the SMAT technology family so application and use will be identical. As others have already stated, NXT 2.0 is a synthetic sealant and all you'll need. If the customer just has to have a carnauba then you can opt for Meg's Gold Class.
