Re: SwirlX on Aluminum.
What is your question?
It should turn black if it is truly aluminum. Cleaner wax probably doesn't have enough cut to really abrade the aluminum, but swirl X does.
I would suggest using Mag and Aluminum polish
I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.
I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
Remove swirls my friends.

Re: SwirlX on Aluminum.
I just managed to get a tub of mag alu polish.
Before that i couldn't find a dedicated alu polish round here.I was using stainless steel polish(household)and worked well.It gave just the right amount of cutting to get rid of oxidization. It had to be followed by something like NXT all metal polish,to get rid of abrasions. After that came out really smooth and shiny.

Re: SwirlX on Aluminum.
Well if they are clear coated, they shouldn't come up black. If they for sure are clear coated that means that the clear in the area you were working is rubbed away and you are down to the raw aluminum.
Try swirl x in a couple inconspicuous spots in different areas on different wheels. If it always turns up black, they aren't clear coated, if some areas don't come up black, the clear is failing on the wheels.
