  • paste or liquid?

what is your choice, paste or liquid? is there any pro's or con's of either? i normally grab the liquid because it seems easier to apply, but i havent tried a paste wax in a long time. tonight i bought some GC paste and will be giving it a shot on top of NXT 2.0 (liquid).

also, which applicator should i be using? the applicator that comes with it or should i still use a microfiber pad? lastly, could i smear some of the paste on the paint and then spread it with my PC like i would with the liquid?

I prefer liquid with a foam or microfiber applicator.

not sure about the PC, give it a try.

        Re: paste or liquid?

I always use liquid with my G100 - I have NXT2.0 and GC in both liquid and paste.
I apply the pastes by hand and find that I tend to get more satisfying results that way, but I also have a problem with putting it on too thick by hand.
I honestly feel that pastes give better results(mostly in my head for sure), but you really can't beat the convenience and speed of machine application.
I think my feelings about paste superiority are psychological - it takes that much longer and that much more effort to apply a paste, so it MUST look better, right?

I use liquid. Don't really know why.

i kinda have this thought in my mind, that i know isnt accurate but its there nonetheless that pastes protect better because its thicker. not that the layer of wax is thicker, but that the paste is thick in the tub and liquid is kinda "watery" so it cant have as much protection, again i know that inaccurate, but thats my thoughts lol

                Liquid: PC friendly to apply
Paste: Tend to use less wax when used by hand
Use a foam pad or PC.

Liquid. Easier to use with the G110.

Polymers are molecular structures. All you end up with is a molecular coating no matter how hard you wish the paste "must be better".

It's a throwback to the days of Blue Coral. It took you nearly all day to apply and remove the polish. The lil' jar of sealer that was applied after, was like removing slow drying enamel.

I can't honestly say.The last time I used paste, was when I was a kid waxing my dad's car.It was a tub of turtle wax.Really tough to work with at the time.I'm happy with the results of liquid.

If you took 2 products,GC Liquid and GC paste, which would be better, and what are the benefits of one over the other?

Like I said, I know that it's all psychological, I just can't help it. I KNOW that the amount of wax that stays on the paint is the same regardless of the form the wax has when contained. It's like arguing whether bottled beer is better or canned beer is better. Ask 30 people, you'll get 15 different answers.
Like I said, I use pastes (with the exception of MPPP) on special occasions or when I want to make my car look its best, and I use liquids the rest of the time. It's purely psychological.

                            Re: paste or liquid?

I prefer paste waxes--at the moment. I have not tried Meguiar's paste waxes, so I do not know how easy it is to apply them; but the paste waxes I have tried have been very easy, both to apply and remove--Fuzion, Souveran, and Harly Wax. I find that it is easier for me to apply a thin coat with a paste wax than with a liquid wax--with one caveat: it is very easy to apply a thin coat of liquid NXT with a DA.

And as far as the whole psychological references, let me just settle once and for all one of the most important questions of our age: Coca Cola does taste better in a six ounce glass bottle. It simply does. That's not opinion or psychological delusion. That's fact.

I love what Budwieser did with the aluminum bottles. It's still a freaking can, but now it has a twist top and is shaped like a bottle. Hacks.
