  • foam guns

i am looking into a foam gun and wanted to get some opinions. i can get locally for 70 bucks a pinnacle foam gun with no extra's or i can get the gilmour foam gun off ADS for 55 (plus shipping) with a free wash mitt and a 32oz bottle of meg soap. the pinnacle actually looks identical to the gilmour gun, but is one better than the other? also, any thoughts on those CHEAP mr clean versions that they make? its the same basic principle but a very cheaply made one i think lol. its on clearance at walmart for 15. i know it probably doesnt work so i didnt pick it up. any opinions on which is better, the pinnacle or the gilmout would be appreciated

I had one of the Mr. Clean AutoWash things a few years ago, it was pretty neat. I don't think that it was really all that it was cracked up to be, plus you HAD to use their soap with it otherwise the filter clogged and you needed to replace it.
If a tree falls in the forest and there's nobody there to record the event, how can you be certain that there was a tree or even a forest to begin with?

      Re: foam guns

Most of the foam guns are Gilmour, just re-labeled. You can also try calling Gilmour, and see what they charge directly. Saved me a few bucks several years ago, but the soap and wash mitt kind of sweeten the deal.

I love mine, but it is like anything else, not for everyone.

I thought the Mr. Clean was pretty useless really.

Get the one from ADS, they are the same.
It is a great investment and fun to use. I use Gold Class or Shampoo Plus for extra foam.
A great combo is to fill your favorite shampoo with ONR and let it soak for 2-3 minutes. All the dirt just slides off. ADS sells ONR as well.

The foam is dependent on the kind of soap you use and how much. While many use it as a pre-soak, it can be used while you wash as well.

Yeah, if you are using a Meguiars soap, you wont get tons of foam that sticks to the car. And of course it will slide more quickly off a well waxed car. But it does cling that few seconds longer instead of just running off, so you can get your mitt on it and wash, without losing all your lubrication.

I dont usually worry about the pre-soaking stuff, I just wash like normal unless th car is really dirty.

LOL! I'm the biggest champion of the Mr. Clean AutoDry car wash system on MOL, but not for the complete system. I stopped using the complete system after joining MOL and watching Mike Phillips car washing video, but I still use the Mr. Clean nozzle for one specific function: The hard water filter is actually effective for softening water for the final rinse.

But you don't have to spend $17-$20 to try out Mr. Clean. Big Lots started selling them this weekend - for $4!

I saw that Big Lots ad too. Can't really go wrong for $4. I put Gold Class wash in the gun as well as use a bucket with soap in it. And it is pretty durable as I just kinda throw mine around.

I like to use the NXT Car Shampoo in my Gilmour for final washing as it has water softeners which allow you to leave the foam mix on the vehicle a little longer to dwell without worrying about water spotting as much and has agents which encapsulate dirt and help to prevent them from marring the finish during agitation with the wash mitt.
