  • What kind of swirls are these?

Was this created from my washing habits and or was it when I applied #6 with a finishing pad a few weekends ago?

It took some serious twist and turns from me to capture this....

Though I believe I went a little too crazy with applying the cleaner wax on this portion!

Other than that, it looks decent in almost all other angles....

Since May 23rd, the car has only seen #6, but not last weekend.

Were there many defects before you applied the products?

The first pic look a little like buffer trails? But you really cant get those from a DA with a finishing pad.

On the first pic, there appears to be an overall halo effect, but possibly that's the wax.I think it's due to rubbing with the pad?

That is a really beautifull car...It is so well maintained..

It looks like time will be running out for me to get one,as they're ending production this year.Really sad,as it's such a great roadster.

Have you ever thought about buying the hard top?

The first pic looks like light holograms caused by someone using a rotary on the car. DISO perhaps?

The second pic looks like swirls possibly inflicted by washing / drying techniques.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

The only product that i used with washing the car today...2 buckets, Gold Class Shampoo & Conditioner, MF Wash Mitt and #6. I would have normally used last touch, but due to film-ish issues that was the only product i used. So to be honest, yes there was some from what the applicator felt like and hoped that #6 would have just taken care of them. .... .hum. Great question, thanks. Guess, this is when the white clay bar will come in very handy.

I only own a Porter Cable, so any evidence of a buffer would be from the dealer's lot. It used to be seriously bad. Picture number 2 is being kind in regards the way I got the car that day.

Fun car for sure and with a nice killer look to it.

The first pic could be wax that hasn't been buffed out all the way, or some other product that has not been totally wiped off the paint. The second looks like someone put a buffer pad down in a sandbox and then did some work on your paint! It might just be the angle of the shot you took but the swirls look very circular and concentric to me.

Re: What kind of swirls are these?

MarkH, the 1st picture is right after the car wash. No products applied to it other then the wash soap.

The rest of the pictures are after i applied some #6 with a foam applicator. The 2nd pictures, the applicator was some what saturated (sp) and the wax did not go on as freely, so Murr1525 had a good point.

I did purchase the car in the high desert. It was a windy year when I did purchase the car and it had been sitting in the lot since mid 2007...purchased in April of 08.

                Thanks Tuck91...

So what product should I use to discard the Rotory Effects? Is #83 effective enough to take out the holograms?

I have yet to apply #83 on the driver side, just #80. Passenger side did not look this bad and that was the only spot that I ever used #83 a month ago. Just trying to learn the best way to keep the finish nice and avoid polishing the car every month.

Re: What kind of swirls are these?

OK found the thread from another forum of the before pictures.

Took the car from the dealer this way. They wanted to work on it before they handed me the keys, but I had a few friends waiting to eat dinner a few blocks away at the cantina.... LOL...reminds me how bad it once looked!

Should have taken more before pictures, but I completely forgot to take the camera up to my friends house this day.

I only used M80 & NXT this day....

Re: What kind of swirls are these?

Yep, a classic case of DISO allright. All too common with black cars. Was the car purchased new?

Try the M80 and if that doesn't work, move up to M83. If that still hasn't removed all the swirls to your liking, try SwirlX then ScratchX 2.0 in that order.
Do a test spot on the car until you achieve the desired result, then you can duplicate the results to the rest of the car. Good luck!

Well now that you mentioned the time at the dealership, changes everything.

Dealers just don't have a clue. They can waffle on and think they know everything, but they're really just plonkers! I can't be bothered to even talk to them...they don't listen anyway, unless you mention $'s.
