  • Too many wax's?

I'm currently experimenting with wax combinations. On one section of my trunk, I'm doing: cleaner wax, nxt2, and gold class.
Could the cleaner wax foundation cause the nxt and GC to wear off quickly? As aposed to just NXT then GC.

Many MOL members use Cleaner Wax to clean and prepare their paint, then topping it NXT. I have not heard anyone complain about getting less durability from NXT when applied on top of Cleaner Wax than from NXT alone.

The interesting question is whether durability gets compromised when NXT is topped with Gold Class.

I recently used Cleaner Wax > Gold Class with great results. It's holding up fine so far.

I would think that Gold Class may diminish NXT slightly simply because it has polishing oils in it that may compromise the synthetic finish of the NXT. I'm no expert though.

        Re: Too many wax's?

        Here's what Meg's says:
Meguiar’s most versatile, one step wax specially formulated to produce eye-dazzling results on all finishes. Rich conditioning oils and legendary gentle cleaning ability make it an excellent choice for daily drivers exposed to the elements.
So it's not going to hinder NXT or GC wax.
The cleaning action "cleans the paint" so your prepping the surface for wax, and it contains wax.
So your topping a clean waxed surface with a wax.

If you did a 50/50 on your paint as in: one side with Cleaner Wax and topped it with NXT & GC, then other side with just NXT & GC, I would think they would last about the same.

I'd have to agree with Mario.

If the surface is already cleaned, I don't see how a cleaner wax will affect the bond ability of any other wax aside from itself.
