Is there an official list of products ranked by abrasiveness and if so where is it? I have seen several threads discussing the different abrasive levels but is there a final complete list and if so could some one point me to it? Thanks

Abrasives scale. Where is it?

Re: Abrasives scale. Where is it?
There is not a "complete" list in the sense that it compares all of the lines together. Why? Because it is simply impossible to do so when the products utilize very different technologies and react differently according to application methods.
Is there a specific answer you are after?

Try these
Aggressiveness Order for New Consumer Products - This will surprise you!
Order of aggressiveness...again!
What's the difference between Meguiar's Super Micro Abrasive technology and Meguiar's Diminishing Abrasive technology?
Comparative Abrasive Chart Autotopia
But as Murr and Mark mentioned, there is no official comparative list because the products are not linear, often overlap, and have specific functions related to application method and expected results.

I don't agree that it's impossible to do and it's something that Meguiars should get done. I understand the cut will vary depending on pad, method of application, work time, etc but it's all relative. If product "A" is more aggressive than product "B" than it will always be so as long as the other factors are the same. For example if you apply product "A" by DA with a polishing pad and it's more aggressive than product "B" under those conditions than it will always be more aggressive than product "B" no matter what conditions as long as the two products use the same conditions. When ranking the products just assume the conditions of use are the same. Everybody knows the cut will vary depending on the method of use.
On another note it's really annoying to post and than see that my posts are not there so it's impossible to edit them. How may posts are required before the disappearing post syndrome stops?

As for classifying all products into an abrasiveness scale, Mark was correct about the inconsistency of application methods making such a comparison difficult, but perhaps wasn't quite clear enough. While it is certainly true that a given product's ability to cut will vary with application method (M105 will cut more when used on rotary with a wool pad and cut less via hand application, etc) and you can look at the "cut scale" on the Mirror Glaze product line bottles as a sliding scale (M105 will always give more cut than M80, so long as the application process is equal), that doesn't tell the whole story.
M105 is rated a 12 on the scale, but that level of cut is based on rotary application. The same holds true for all other Mirror Glaze products, but since none of the consumer line products are designed or approved for rotary use they are not given a number on the scale. This point alone, then, makes it a bit difficult to rate every single product on a common scale. We do know, of course, that when used on a G110, Ultimate Compound, ScratchX 2.0 and SwirlX are all more aggressive than M83. But M83 is also formulated/approved for use with a rotary buffer while these three new consumer products are not. Any other comparison with them, therefore, starts to get pretty gray.Michael Stoops
